Keeping Our Babies Happy & Healthy #RSVprotection

February 19, 2013 by Maria

Being a mother to 2 school aged children & working full-time in healthcare, I am constantly reminded of germs. Like most mothers, I do everything I can do protect my children (as well as other children) by being extremely cautious every cold & flu season. But my school aged children & myself have a very strong immune system? Well, that doesn't matter. I'm protecting my family so that I can protect other children from getting sick and spreading viruses, bacteria and other infection Continue Reading

International Delight Light Iced Coffee-Delightfully Cafe’ Flan Recipe #LightIcedCoffee

I'm a huge coffee nut. I normally drink anywhere from 1-3 cups a day. Frappes, Cappuccinos, regular cup of Joe, I like them all. During the work week I normally have about 30 minutes to sit a drink a cup of coffee in peace before I head on over to work. To me, it is my few minutes of complete sanity. I sometimes I drink my coffee at home or other times I run to my favorite drive thru for a small specialty coffee or iced coffee. But running to the coffeehouse everyday can financially add up. To Continue Reading

Building a Hen House- Stage 1

Over the past year one of the things my husband & I wanted to start was a chicken coop. Living outside the New Orleans area is such a gift. We are in close proximity to everything New Orleans has to offer our family: music, culture, art, history and more. But along with the city life, we enjoy our small town living. Since we have almost 2 acres of land, we are fortunate enough to have a large garden every summer and now, the opportunity to have chickens. Why Continue Reading

Green Works: Being Green is for Everyone #YouDontHaveToBe #GreenHousewives

January 31, 2013 by Maria

Over the years, many consumers have realized that being "Green" is the smart solution for our environment in order to prosper and grow. We have made it a trend. Trends are good right? Well, not necessarily. We have become "eco-exclusive". By that I mean, we have added pressure on others to do more by reminding them that we go over & beyond in our eco-friendly mission. In a new survey, fifty-one percent of respondents said “green is the new black.” Being eco-friendly is fantastic and Continue Reading

Homemade DIY Dishwasher Detergent & Rinse Aid- #Frugal

January 3, 2013 by Maria

One of my favorite household stockpile items is dishwasher tabs/liquid. Over the last few years I have been able to score boxes of dishwasher liquid/tabs for around 50 bents a box. Those deals are now few & far between. I have said in the past that as soon as I use all my dishwasher tabs/liquid I will start making my own. The barrel has dried and thus..... I shall make my own to save my family money. I have spent the last month perfecting this recipe to suit my own needs. It's not rocket Continue Reading

Fashion Meet Comfort: Fashion FLEXY®/Haute Things, Inc Giveaway Ends 12/24

December 17, 2012 by Maria

Sometimes finding items in our everyday wardrobe that are fashionable and comfortable for everyday use can be very hard to find. During my 9-5 job healthcare job, I always start my day with my hair down, freshly flat-ironed, and looking completely together. Before lunchtime I find myself looking for my elastic ponytail around my wrists (that cuts off blood circulation) and pinning my hair back. Those very same elastic bands are not good for my hair in the first place more nor are they Continue Reading

A Mother’s Reflection: A Silent Tree

November 29, 2012 by Maria

Today was a rare day off of work during the week. I sat outside under one of our patio areas and noticed something. Our big beautiful backyard tree seems so sad to me. With almost 2 acres of land, I noticed this tree today. I can see this tree from my kitchen window & our dining room area. Years ago I would leave the backdoor open and hear the giggling of 2 small children under that same tree. Once upon a time, that same tree was a pivotal area on our property. It was the central hub for many Continue Reading

Pamper Yourself With The Ease & Convenience Of An At-Home NIVEA Spa Party #NIVEAmoments #CBias

November 12, 2012 by Maria

Pampering myself is not something I tend to do on a regular basis. Like most mothers, instead of going to the spa and spending big bucks on myself I tend to put my needs and wants on the back-burner. But as we are constantly told, we NEED to take care of ourselves: mind, body & soul. So I'm on a mission to do just that! I decide to invite a small group of my girlfriends over for a NIVEA Spa Party. But there's a catch: I didn't tell them until the last minute!! CRAZY right? Yes & No. My plan Continue Reading

WRRYFree Skin Care Review & Giveaway Ends 9/4

August 28, 2012 by Maria

I have a slight addiction to skin care products. I am always on the lookout for good quality moisturizer or deep conditioning lotion/body butter. Normally I tend to sway more towards fragrant smells, but those products also have many chemicals within the products that they can't be good for your skin more less the environment. Since my husband works outdoors, the sun does a number on his skin. I'm constantly reminding him that he needs to apply sunscreen or add moisturizer to prevent the sun Continue Reading
