Now that my children are older, thinking of Christmas gifts ideas can becomes difficult. I can buy them the latest tech gadget but I’m always looking for ways to unplug and spend time outdoors. Between football season, baseball, softball and volleyball my kids are very active. But they also enjoy outdoor sports like archery or target practice using their air rifle.
Since my kids are older (10 years old & 14 years old) they have outgrown their Daisy BB Gun given as Christmas presents several years ago. As an early Christmas present my husband & I went to Academy Sports and outdoor to search for an air rifle that can grown with them over the next several years.
Academy Sports & Outdoor has a large selection of Daisy products, but don’t think this is solely a cool Christmas gift for boys. My teen daughter has been using her Daisy BB Gun since she was 5 years old. In fact, she’s a good shot and enjoys watching air rifle competition on tv.
Finding Daisy products at Academy is very easy. We made our way to the hunting section and can easily notice an entire aisle of Daisy products. What I love about Daisy products is that you can find a product for all age ranges. While my son used his Daisy Buck for many years, we can now upgrade to the Daisy Powerline 880 Air Rifle which has a scope and has a maximum shooting distance of almost 300 yards! The multipump pneumatic air rifle is exactly what my kids and husband were looking for.
My husband’s father was in the United States Marine Corp and educated my husband about guns and gun safety at an early age. Like my husband, my children have been practicing gun safety since they were old enough to pick up their 1st BB Gun.
Daisy has offered a educational curriculum since 1948 and educates through its partnership with leading conservation and youth training organizations such as National Wild Turkey’s JAKES Take Aim, 4-H National Shooting Sports, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Royal Rangers, Youth Shooting Sports Alliance, Civilian Marksmanship, NRA, JROTC units, scouting, fish and game as well as church and private camps.
Since safety is always number one, people giving a Daisy product this Christmas will be happy to know that the Daisy Powerline 880 comes with safety goggles included in the kit as well as 2 containers of pellets to get your favorite teen or older child outside the house as soon as their presents are unwrapped.
As a mother, I’m always worried about my children when they are using their air rifle but with proper education, I can put my worries at ease. Daisy educates roughly one million of America’s youth a year through their Ten Lesson Shooting Curriculum about BB gun use and safety. My husband is always outside with my children when they are target practicing which is a great way to get the family outside and away from their devices for a few hours.
Our little target practice area has had it’s fair share of use over the last few weeks which makes the entire family happy. This morning I woke up to find my daughter outside with my husband and her Daisy Powerline instead of on her phone or watching tv. In fact, I’m glad to know that at least one Christmas present does not include batteries or a charger!

I’m glad the kids are being supervised. As long as some safety lessons are involved I wouldn’t be totally apposed to a BB gun.
My son has a Daisy bb gun and loves it. We try to take him out to shoot as often as he likes and I have to say, he is a pretty good shot!
My daughter got her BB gun at Walmart too! She loves shooting in the backyard, she’s pretty good for a 13 year old. It’s just something fun to do where we live.
I would love to give this Daisy to my nephew this year for the holidays, he would like it very much.

We love going target practicing with our boys. We wanted to teach them about gun safety at young ages so we started with a BB Gun and I am so glad that we did.
It’s always so difficult to buy gifts for teens during the holidays. It would be nice to have a list of items like this one as a guide.

It is challenging to find gifts that are appropriate for older kids for sure. I have to be honest that I would not purchase for my child, but I would ask for a bit more information. I think obviously toys that encourage kids to put down gadgets and get out doors are very important. I would be interested to see how it works but I would also want information about how loud it is. Do you need ear protection for instance?

My son is really into Air Soft and Paintball. I think these are great activities for kids. As long as all the safety rules are followed.
