While I was in the planning stages of our Branson press trip, I mentioned to a coworker that I was going to experience a few shows while I was in the area. My coworker mentioned I had to visit the Sight & Sound Theater. When I mentioned that my family & I had tickets to see Jonah, she was extremely happy for us. She had previously visited the Sight & Sound Theater and knew is was an experience my family & I would not soon forget.
Nearly a million people experienced a production last year at either the Lancaster County, PA or Branson, MO locations. The largest faith based live theater of its kind, originated in 1976 in Lancaster, PA. In May 2008, a brand new, state-of-the-art Sight & Sound Theatre was constructed. The 2000-seat theatre opened its doors to the public in Branson, MO.with Noah the Musical. Since then productions like Noah – the Musical, Abraham & Sarah – A Journey of Love, Daniel and the Lions’ Den, Behold the Lamb, Ruth, Psalms of David, Voices of Christmas, In the Beginning, Joseph and Jonah have graced the two theatres and captured audiences with their vibrant productions.
The glorious Sight & Sound Theatre is nestled in the Ozarks on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway. The location is isolated and far from the hustle and bustle of Branson traffic but close enough your family will not get restless from the short drive.
Their Mission:
Our purpose is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ and sow the Word of God into the lives of our customers, guests and fellow workers by visualizing and dramatizing the scriptures, through inspirational productions, encouraging others and seeking always to be dedicated and wise stewards of our God-given talents and resources.
I was not able to capture any of the production with my camera. The production is trademarked and no flash photography was allowed. Since I respect that, I can merely tell you about our experience. We arrived and found our seats shortly before the doors close. Once the doors are closed, there may be a chance you will not regain entry until intermission. Traffic to get into the theatre can feel overwhelming. Keep in mind that the location is fully staffed and parking was actually pain-free.
We were directed exactly where to park and arrived in time to hit the concession stand. The concession stands are moderately priced and offer an array of snacks and beverages.
If you are interested in tickets to the Branson location, currently the Sight & Sound Theatre is featuring Jonah through 2015. The Lancaster County, PA location is offering Moses and in 2015, you will also be able to see Joseph and the Miracle of Christmas production. Personally I would love to visit the Lancaster County location during the holidays.
Tickets are moderately priced and although may seem higher than traditional attractions in Branson, the experience is well-worth the ticket price. You can combined tickets with other attraction for additional savings. Also, I saw several billboards in Branson that a family 4 pack is $99. Call ticket box office for more information.
