Year Around #BeachHoliday Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark and Resort #Ad

Where can you wear shorts and flip flops pretty much year around? We did on our recent visit to South Padre, Texas. South Padre Island offers travelers year around beautiful beaches and a causal coastal community. South Padre Island is also home to Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort where families can find family lodging in a 221 room resort and an indoor/outdoor waterpark that can keep the entire family entertained for days.

This winter, imagine waking up to this every morning!?!

My family enjoyed the view every morning from the balcony of the 3rd floor where we stayed in a Deluxe Double Queen room. Our roomy accommodations featured a high definition flat-screen TV, mini-refrigerator, in-room safe, microwave, Wolfgang Puck coffee and complimentary popcorn. More importantly the mattress, duvet covers and comfortable pillows are exactly what the doctor ordered after an 11 hour journey from New Orleans, Louisiana to South Padre Island, Texas.

After our long journey, our family managed to checked into our room early due to the room being vacant (due traveling off-season) prior to check-in. Early check-in was a huge lifesaver! We were exhausted and took a nice nap before we began to utilize all the amenities that Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark and Resort offers.

Notice the pine motif? Loblolly Pines which were reclaimed from the 2011 Bastrop wildfires can be seen in everything from furniture to paneling on walls. But the usage of Loblolly Pines is not only used in each resort room, you can find Loblolly Pines throughout the entire resort. What a great way to repurpose and remember one of the most destructive wildfire in Texas’s state history.

Over the next few days my family and I enjoyed all of Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark and Resort. Although we vacationed in early December we were still able to utilize many of the amenities and outdoor activities that the resort offers guests.

From the 1950’s era Grand Carousel, Palapa Swim Up- a huge, heated swim-up area which features a beautiful large palapa structure constructed out of Loblolly Pines and of course Schlitterbahn’s Indoor Waterpark.

On this trip I brought my son, my youngest sister Daniella and my mother for a winter getaway. My mother is not a waterpark person but she enjoys traveling off-season so she can enjoy peace and relaxation when traveling. The Palapa Swim Up pool was perfect for my mother.

The outdoor heated pool offers quite and tranquility that a hot tub can offer without getting overheated. In December, the heated pool is perfect to get away from the waterpark area and just lounge poolside. Plus the Palapa swim area also offers a seated swim up bar with tv so we were able to catch the football game in between our swim time.

My son’s personal favorite was the indoor waterpark! Between Blackbeard’s Twister and Lafitte’s Cyclone, my son enjoyed every twists, turns and drops in a fast-paced thrill slide. Aside from the water slides, the Los Rio Azul Torrent is a mini wave adventure! Do you love lazy rivers? Well this is not for the lazy at heart! The fast current, ocean-sized waves is perfect for floating thrill lovers. I don’t know who enjoyed that more, my 10 year old son or my 25 year old sister?

Don’t think my son had all the fun! My sister and I made sure to take advantage of our Schlitterbahn indoor waterpark time. The best part of traveling during the winter months is that the water park is NOT crowded. Think your family will be bored? No way! There are at least 6 different areas your family can enjoy in the indoor waterpark.

Pirates Cover is perfect for the “littles” but if your for a little family competition, your family can enjoy Mega Blast. Mega Blast is a interactive, multi-level game area for the entire family. You can blast your favorite family member with air propelled cannons and soft foam balls.

The view is amazing! South Padre Island is home to miles of beautiful beaches along the Gulf Coast. Be sure to take some time and enjoy some beach time with the family. Schlitterbahn Beach Resort offers year-round entertainment perfect for even the winter months. The popular resort destination offers many amenities and family activities that can make your next beach holiday a success.

Does your getaway during the winter months?

Oh man I would have loved to visit this place. The kids would have had so much fun. Nothing like an indoor water park when it’s winter.
