When I think of summer, I can’t help but imagine water parks, a local pool or beach time with my family. I’m counting the days until my kids let out for summer break! A few days after summer break starts my mother, youngest sister and kids are headed for our Texas Road Trip. We plan on spending a few days in San Antonio and making our way to Schlitterbahn New Braunfels Waterpark and enjoy a full-day at the waterpark.
About 5 months ago, my family and i had the pleasure of experiencing several days at South Padre Island Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort. The resort was not only beautiful and relaxing, but the waterpark kept the kids so busy, NO ONE wanted to go home but I promised them we would return and that, we are!
Schlitterbahn New Braunfels Waterpark is the #1 Waterpark in the World for 16 Consecutive Years. Not only is Schlitterbahn New Braunfels Waterpark the most popular summertime waterpark in the United States, but it is also ranked as the #1 Kid-Friendly destination in the state of Texas. It’s perfectly located on the banks of the spring-fed Comal River in New Braunfels, between San Antonio and Austin, in south central Texas.
When we visited in December, we were able to enjoy the indoor waterpark which is perfect for year around travel. This time, we will be able to check out Schlitterbahn New Braunfels outdoor waterpark which features the World’s longest tube ride, has won awards for best waterpark, best waterpark ride, and best new ride. It’s also Schlitterbahn’s flagship park!
Reasons to Choose Schlitterbahn this summer
Schlitterbahn saves mom’s budget by offering free parking, free life jackets, and families can bring in an ice chest of food. I love that they allow you to bring your own ice chest but don’t worry, if you do buy your food in the park food prices are reasonable and healthy options abound.
Schlitterbahn is GREEN! 98% of the water is recaptured, filtered, and reused all season. Their new resort in South Padre is built out of wood reclaimed from the wildfires that took place in Austin
Proximity ~> Like I mentioned earlier, New Braunfels is perfectly located in between San Antonio and Austin which means you can visit the water park while experiencing historical attractions that the area has to offer.
Be a Kid Again! Nothing says summer vacation like watching the kids have fun, but the water park isn’t just for kids! It’s time to leave your stress at home or work and take a road trip to your nearest Schlitterbahn. Life is about living!
Schlitterbahn has been part of hundreds of thousands of great memories for guests – What are your favorite memories at a water park?

I LOVE that they are green and reuse their water! That is so great to hear. I speak German and so a park with a name like Schlitterbahn certainly catches my attention. I hope I’ll be able to go someday! Thanks for the great review.

That looks like so much fun. Show me a lazy river and I will show you two of my children trying to kill me.

I am such a huge fan of waterparks, and used to love them as a kid too. On our last vacation hubby and I dropped the kids off at the club for the afternoon and we did the waterpark just us. It was so fun! I’d love to visit this one, on my list now!

This looks and sounds like a really great water park where kids can have a fun day splashing away and keeping cool!! I live in NY not in Texas so won’t be going to check it out myself!
