Homemade DIY Dishwasher Detergent & Rinse Aid- #Frugal

January 3, 2013 by Maria

One of my favorite household stockpile items is dishwasher tabs/liquid. Over the last few years I have been able to score boxes of dishwasher liquid/tabs for around 50 bents a box. Those deals are now few & far between. I have said in the past that as soon as I use all my dishwasher tabs/liquid I will start making my own. The barrel has dried and thus..... I shall make my own to save my family money. I have spent the last month perfecting this recipe to suit my own needs. It's not rocket Continue Reading

In 2013 I Want To……

January 2, 2013 by Maria

I'm back from my blogging vacation! Nothing can beat spending an peaceful Christmas & New Years with those you love the most in this world. But now that we have embarked into a new year, and so have our directions in life. As usual so many of us have made resolutions (or made a resolutions of having NO resolutions). I have decided to do something that many of us already do except I'm saying it "out loud". With an uncertain economy & our society unraveling a small thread of morality on Continue Reading

Giving Back-Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana Community Kitchen @2ndHarvestGNOA

December 20, 2012 by Maria

In my previous Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana post, I spoke mainly about the Food Bank itself, but today I wanted to focus & share more information on the new commercial grade Community Kitchen. At nearly 6,500 square feet, the Community Kitchen is one of the largest productions in the region. The Community Kitchen helps to produce nutritious meals for the Summer Feeding and Kids Cafe programs. Meals are proportioned and well-balanced to new dietary Continue Reading

Adding Soybean Oil to Your Fun & Festive Baking Recipes + $25 Walmart Gift Card Giveaway #SoyParaSoy #Spon

December 14, 2012 by Maria

One of my favorite things to do with the kids during the holidays is bake. I use my days off of my 9-5p.m job to focus on quality time with the kids, so baking seems to be the best way to multitask with them. But it seems I'm not the only one baking for my children this time of year. Since they are receiving treats from neighbors, our church family, grandparents and naturally their school classroom, I need to focus on the ingredients I use in my family recipes. I am by far not a "health foodie", Continue Reading

A “Gumbo” of Flavors: Winn-Dixie Holiday Recipes To Impress E-book #WDLocalHoliday

December 11, 2012 by Maria

To say my family's recipes are bursting with flavor would be a complete understatement. Since we are local to the New Orleans area & are a Hispanic family as well, our family recipe book would be considered a "gumbo" of flavors. Start off with a thick spicy Creole base, add our Mexican & Guatemalan stock & seasonings, chop up some Cajun Sausage and last but certainly not least, add some rich hearty Mississippi southern poultry (aka Sanderson's Farm). Stir slowly & simmer to have a complete taste Continue Reading

Net10Wireless – Getting More Bang For Your Buck #Net10WirelessLatino

December 10, 2012 by Maria

My daughter is almost 13 & whether I like it or not, the need for her to have a cellphone is a necessity for my family. But adding additional phone lines which include unlimited data, text messages and calls is simply not as affordable as I need it to be. Although I have unlimited text messaging for my family, data & calls are not unlimited especially having 4 phones under 1 plan. Recently I made a partial switch to Net10Wireless. Their unlimited "everything" (data, text, 411 & calls) Continue Reading

Give the Gift of Health this Christmas Season- Kleenex Care Pack & Share Pack #KleenexSWS

December 4, 2012 by Maria

The other day on my Facebook Page we were discussing Christmas gifts for teachers and others that we were wanting to give a small token of our appreciation this Christmas. A Facebook fan said she has many family members that are teachers and that school supplies are always a great gift since many teachers buy supplies out of their own money every school year. The conversation got me thinking. What is something I can give our teachers that they would appreciate and also that other classroom Continue Reading

Are Retailers Taking the Holiday’s out of Holiday Shopping?

November 9, 2012 by Maria

Originally Written on Nov. 8th, 2012 I know we are all so excited that Black Friday ads have started to be released. Some holiday shoppers want to get the best bargain they can find and Black Friday offers that to them. But are we taking the "Holiday out of Holiday Shopping"? Today Walmart released their Black Friday Ad. Shoppers like myself were happy to start seeing what their dollar can buy and planning accordingly to create their holiday shopping list. But I also saw that Walmart was Continue Reading

As an adult I have volunteered for various non profit organizations, but never have I been more in AWE than my recent trip to Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana. Recently my blogger pal/neighbor, Christina from BlueKittyCool.org & I visited Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana. We knew they did amazing work for the community but we were shocked by their presence & efforts that reached over 250,000 people annually & distributes well over 60,000 Continue Reading

Saving Money While on Vacation #Travel #Tourism #Family

October 5, 2012 by Maria

When your going on vacation the last thing you want to worry about is "How much are we spending?" But it's something that we HAVE to consider. We make a budget for our Hotel, Cabin, etc first. Then we consider the location and create a budget. We allocate from that budget an amount that we will spend on traveling there..i.e gas or in some families cases airfare, taxi cabs, train, etc. The left over amount is our final budget to spend. One way we save money is point saving sites like MyPoints Continue Reading

Reyes Magos with Net10 Wireless #Net10Latino
