If you’re wondering how this park got it’s name, it’s named for Daniel Cresap, one of the first settlers in Allegany County. Daniel was adventurous, and while pursuing a bear in a tree, Daniel fell and lay unconscious until a Native American that he hunted with found him and dragged Daniel to safety. Since then, the mountain has been known as Dan’s Mountain and it’s sure to become a favorite getaway destination.
