My husband has been an Electrician for the past 20 years, so it is no surprise that we always invest time and money to make our home more energy efficient. I was recently given the opportunity to review Filtrete Filters by 3M air filters for my heating and cooling system. I needed the change too! I have bought air filters from as little as $2-$22 and all were mediocre. Why? Well, the generic no name brands caught the dust & sometimes just masked odors from our pets, mildew, cooking, cleaning products etc and gave temporary relief but when the air conditioning was off, but the odors were still there.
Filtrete Filters by 3M are carbon filter that once activated, remove odors in the home (removes, not masks odors). The high performance filters use electrostatic charged filters and attracts and captures microscopic allergens like pet dander, dust and other microscopic particles that carry bacteria, viruses and odors. I notice that in the winter months I have to change our air filters much more often when purchasing the generic air filters. That’s not saving me time or money, is it? These Filtrete Filters by 3M Oder Reduction Filters cost on average $15.99 but last 3 months!!
My husband loved that the Filtrate Filters by 3M maintained the airflow & took the stress off our cooling system. The reduced the amount of energy needed to circulate & cool the house means my cooling system can last monger and be more energy efficient. Being a Mom, I like that it captures allergens like dust mites, mold spores, pollen and more.I love my children and always want them to feel 100%, but have my children suffer from allergies inside the home just isn’t an option. We live in Southeast Louisiana so mold is something that effect many families especially my children. My kids can now stay healthy longer with no sniffling or sneezing in sight!
Our son changed the air filters today and the very first thing we noticed was that the Filtrete Filter by 3M is double sided. One side captures air borne particles and the other side removes household odors. The carbon filter also makes the filter itself so durable. Some brands are so thin and flimsy that they can easily tear apart simply by changing out the filter OR they are too tightly women and can restrict airflow from the cooling system. Time is money, so I need my cooling and heating system to function quick and with little stress.

You can find Filtrete Filters by 3M at Walmart, Target, Lowe’s, Costco and other hardware stores. 1 Filter lasts up to 3 months and costs an average of $15.99. you can visit FindMyFiltreteFilter.com

These sound like they are great filters. I bought an electronic filter for the heating and colling system but I will definitely be checking these out until my husband gets it installed.
I love filtrete filters! They are the only ones I use!
We always use filtrete filters! Actually I think it is time to change ours too. Thanks for the reminders.
This so reminds me that we have to check out our filters before we turn on the air con this summer
This is great to know! I enjoyed the review. We really need to change our filters more often. My whole family has allergies and I know this would help us, especially with extending the life of our cooling system (we just had new c/a installed).
Thanks for this post, cause I can sneeze up a storm, especially when the fan turns into the a/c, it seems the air gets worse.
We love Filtrete too! Thanks for sharing!
We love Filtrate filters at my house, because they have worked best with my children’s allergies. I will have to look for these next time I am out shopping.
I’m going to have to look for these!
Great post. Had no idea about a lot of this!
It’s always good to know about things that can improve the quality of life at home–thanks for sharing this info about air filters–I really had no idea–I will have to check it out and put it on the honey do list
We have air filters that you can take out and hose off and love them. Air purification is pretty important in our home since my husband and sun are asthmatic.
I keep seeing these everywhere. Perhaps I should get one?
I should try these, my bf and I both struggle with allergies.
Great post, and thanks for the reminder. We need a new filter. And, I need allergy meds cuz they are bad right now.. LOL
I always use the Filtrete brand too! I have not seen these odor ones! Definitely will look for these to use. The house we are in was shut up for so long that even though we have new a/c sheetrock and flooring it still can sometimes have a weird odor. We have an air purifier but will add this to take it to the next level.
That is something I miss about our current house. We have baseboard heat and no a/c, so there’s no filters to help remove allergens from the air. Otherwise, these would be on my shopping list year round.
We need to switch out our filters. I will definitely be using them!
I have re-usable filters that I hose down monthly. Imagine my surprise when I found out that there was a third one I never knew about and therefore had never cleaned the 10 years I’ve been in my house. Heater worked like a charm after cleaning that nasty pup. These #3M filters look like a good investment.
I never paid attention to filters but these look great. I would buy them.
We need new filters. It’s the one chore I can never seem to remember!
Those sound awesome! Everyone in my house has really bad allergies. I’m always looking for ways to help reduce allergens. I’ll have to try them out!
Your fabulous review of the Filtrete Filters has inspired me to check them out! Thank you for sharing this valuable information just in time before Summer begins.
interesting, thanks for sharing
Mold is a VERY BIG problem up North in The South, and as soon as I get the a/c fixed I’m getting one of these filters. Thanks for the recommendation mujer! BB2U
I am always looking for better filters since I have some serious allergies. Thanks for sharing
I have the worst allergies and they get worse when the AC is on maybe it’s the filter. I’ll check this one out next time we replace our filters.
Same here! I’m always on the lookout for anything that can help with my awful allergies.
Thanks!
Great post! We are needing new air filters so I just may have to try these out!
