It’s been an entire 4 months since our last cruise and I’m definitely having withdrawals! Our most recent cruise was aboard Carnival Fantasy which departs from Mobile, Alabama. Since Mobile is about 2 hours away from our home, we decided to check her out and experience a “new to us” cruise ship. Recently refurbished in 2016, Carnival Fantasy includes Guy’s Burger Joint serving signature burgers, BlueIguana Cantina, Alchemy Bar and much more.
Some cruisers prefer larger ships, while others prefer a more intimate setting that 4-5 day cruise ships offer. Carnival Fantasy offered plenty of room both within our cabins and in almost every common area with minimal wait times in most lines. Seating is never an issue and regardless of what time we went to the lido desk or the theater, we always found great seats.
While this post is mainly about the food available aboard Carnival Fantasy, guests will have no problem finding ways to pass the time on Sea days. Whether you enjoy late night karaoke, listening to your favorite piano hits or playing games with the family, your family will their their monies worth with entertainment day and night!
As many of you know, Carnival Cruise Lines is perfect for families. My son spent most sea days at Camp Carnival, my daughter spent most of her time at the lido desk which gave my husband and I plenty of time to relax and enjoy activities without the kids for a few hours each day.
When we cruises last I was 2 months into my weight loss journey and really struggling working hard to lose weight. My main concern was finding healthy cruise food options but it was never really an issue on our family cruise. They do have a gym but I took those days off and instead tried to make better food choices and focus on portion control. I avoided things like bread and excessive sugar but couldn’t say no to the BlueIguana Cantina! I ate tacos or burritos EVERY.SINGLE.DAY! #NoShame
The key to BlueIguana Cantina is being 1st in line. HA!! Seriously though, you can choose a burrito line or the taco line. Each line offers 3 varieties of meat, cheese and plenty of veggie options. My husband on the other hand had Guy’s Burger every day with the occasional late night Pizza Pirate stop and mid day grilled sandwich at the Carnival Deli. I swear that man eats every 2 ours when we cruise. Must be nice….
As far as our other meals are concerned, I’m a personal fan of eating breakfast in the dining room. Since my kids are out and about throughout the day, we utilize breakfast and dinner as strict family time. No added guests, just a time for our family to enjoy each others company before heading out for our sea day events. Breakfast on the lido deck or room service is convenient but we prefer eating in the dining room.
While some enjoy grabbing dinner from the lido deck, we enjoy early dining in the dining room. Once dinner is complete, we make out way to the theater to enjoy the shows and live music throughout the ship. If we want a late night snack, we make our way to Pizza Pirate or the buffet for a quick snack before calling it a night.
As you can see by the dining room selections, good food is never in shortage and Carnival Cruise Lines offers a variety of options that will satisfy any palette. If you have any dietary restrictions, be sure to mention it to your dining room server for options not listed on the menu.
Carnival Fantasy does not have a steakhouse that guests might find in other Carnival Cruise Lines ships, but the newly added signature cruise ship dining options is definitely a tasty plus.
