Turning the Bright Side of Our Day into La Merienda + Bilingual After School Bingo Printable #FunSizeMerienda #Ad

Although it’s into the 100°F outside, summer is technically over! My kids went back to school and for the first time in years I am strictly working from home. It’s going to be a adjustment for the entire family mostly the kids. We normally review our day during dinner time but now I can enjoy La Merienda when the kids get off the school bus.

Growing up, Merienda was a special time of day where we would enjoy a light meal or small snack like a piece of fruit, cookies, chocolate, yogurt and review our day. You know, the highlights and (if your like my teen daughter) the pitfalls of our day. Usually, the pitfalls included me getting in trouble for excessive talking but were quickly overshadowed by exciting things like my favorite school subjects: P.E, lunch and recess! Just kidding, I loved to learn!

Today I did the typical “Mommy’s 1st Day of School” bit and since both of my children were going to a new school, I dropped them off versus having them ride the bus in the morning. Once “Mom’s Taxi Service” was complete, I made my way to Walmart to get my weekly groceries and a few special treats for the kids.

My son gets home first and is tired after riding the bus for hour so a sweet snack is in order. Sarah however, is apart of the high school Volleyball Team and stays after school to practice. Either way, once they get home I have to move quickly because they are starving!

During my Walmart shopping trip, I purchased 2 bags of MARS Chocolates Multi-Brand Snack Packs, grapes and apples so we can enjoy a traditional Merienda. I love chocolate, so naturally MARS Chocolates always sweetens my day! M&M’®s Fun Size Variety comes in several flavors like SNICKERS® Fun Size Candy, Fun Size TWIX®, SNICKERS®, M&M’s® Milk Chocolate and more.

Growing up, I loved Loteria & Memoria during La Merienda, so naturally I bought a few set once my kid were old enough to enjoy it with me. Wanna make kids get really into game playing? The winner gets a piece of MARS Chocolates! They will be itching to scream “Lotería, Lotería”.

Spending the afternoon with your children is so precious! It’s a great way to connect and enjoy the sweetest moments of the day together. Plus it opens up dialogue with your child and allows the two of you to stay connected during these crucial years. Aside from outdoor games like backyard sports, rayuela (hopscotch), jacks, jump rope or veo-veo (I spy with my little eye), you can also use a simple printable and lay indoors.

Today I’m sharing a fun, bilingual bingo printable that your family can enjoy during La Merienda. Bingo is one of our all-time favorite board games! Not only do the kids get excited over bingo during La Merienda but it’s one of our favorite travel games.

Hint- Cruise ships always have bingo and the prizes are ah-mazing!

Bilingual Bingo - Spanish Snack Food Bingo

This Bilingual Bingo or Spanish Snack Food Bingo Printable is a great way to enjoy La Merienda with la familia! It’s free to download and can be used to teach a variety of skills. If you have a “antsy” child like I do, bingo helps my son focus, concentrate on the task and always has big rewards.

Sweeten your day and share with your friends and family!

I have always wanted to learn Spanish. When my kids get home from school they usually sit at the table and work on their homework while i start supper. We always make a dessert together.

I always ask Bella how her day went, what did she eat for lunch, how was recess were the kids nice to her, did she get picked on. I believe having a solid relationship with your child starts while they are young and we have had many heart to heart conversations walking down the drive way from the bus stop to sitting at the table eating a after school snack.

After school is almost dinner time here so I try to have some healthy alternatives for snacks so not to ruin their appetite for dinner.
