Tour Companies to Consider in San Antonio, Texas – CitySightSeeing Spotlight #BayouTravel

Being able to travel to a new city and absorb the many sights, smells and experiences is an amazing opportunity for me. I’ve loved traveling ever since I was a kid, so being able to travel as an adult and really soak up the experience of traveling to-and-fro is so amazing. When I was selected to travel to San Antonio, Texas, to take in some of the sights there I was thrilled and I couldn’t wait to jump feet first over the line of the Lone Star State.

As a universal, visiting new places can often time be kind of a confusing, what with the unlimited number of things to do and places to visit and all. Knowing where to start on your tour of a new state can be a little tricky but thankfully I was set up with The CitySightSeeing Double Decker Tour in San Antonio, which made things so much easier. If there’s one thing I would recommend to my readers who are thinking traveling to the city, it’s this.

The CitySightSeeing Double Decker Tour got their start over in Seville, Spain, back in 1999. The San Antonio branch of the CitySightSeeing was launched in 2010 by owner David Strainge. Along with his family, David has owned the Double Decker Sighseeing Tours in Oxford, England, for over 30 years and have been much sought after service for tourists in 100 of the world top destinations including San Antonio. Each Doubel Decker Sightseeing Tour bus is equipped with cold AC so you can enjoy the cities finest sights while keeping cool and beating the dry Texas heat. When choosing CitySightSeeing, you can even customize your own tour to include the following:

  • Churches
  • Associations
  • Social Clubs
  • Companies
  • and more!

Keep in mind, you can either jump on and off the bus all day or do a standard tour like we did. The San Antonio location is right across the street from The Alamo. To make better use of our time and save on parking, we experienced the Alamo and then hopped on board to enjoy the bus tour. Also, we decided to do this on the day we arrived to San Antonio. since we enjoy traveling at night to our travel destination, we arrived early enough we can sight see before we checked into our hotel.

If you purchase your tickets through the CitySightSeeing website: Your ticket is redeemable for 3 months from purchase. Child tickets on this tour are for ages 6 to 12 years for $13, Adults are $25 per ticket. Family tickets on this tour are for up to a maximum of 2 adults and 3 children for $74.

* BayouTravel Tip: If you have older children (13 years or older) see if Groupon has tickets available for your desired destination. If possible purchase when the site is running a sale. I found a 4 pack of tickets (4 adult tickets) for $42. Actually it was $38 for the 4 pack because they were running a holiday sale but for everyday use, $42 on Groupon. I needed 4 adult tickets and 1 child ticket. I purchased my 4 pack for $42 then purchased 1 child ticket for $13 when I arrived to board the bus. Grand Total without a holiday sale would be $55 for all 5 of us.

Being able to use the CitySightSeeing service made my trip so much easier. Also, I was able to capture some great city shots that I may not have had the opportunity to do so had I not taken the tour. I enjoyed the experience so much that I’ll be keeping my eyes open for the company during my future travels!

Do you have a CitySightSeeing Hop on, Hop off bus tour near your favorite travel destination?

I loved everything about san Antonio, but I didn’t have time to do any tours. I want to though, hoping for another trip soon – this time with the family!

I love Double decker buses! The view up there is the best! And it’s nice to be driven around a city, especially on a first visit.

Travel is my passion! Whether I am camping nearby or on a cruise ship, my heart wants to travel and discover the world! From coast to coast, I strive to encourage others to see the world and live with a suitcase always “half packed”. I’m ready to travel, are you?
