Top Fall Travel Destinations #BayouTravel

Fall is in the air and it is time to travel a bit to see a few top fall travel destinations. Whether you want to see the fall colors changing or go where the weather has dipped well below 100 degrees, these travel spots have you covered!

New Hampshire

I don’t think there is a prettier place in the US to see the fall colors change than in New Hampshire. The trees are displaying vibrant hues of yellow, burnt orange, and fiery red. It is an amazingly beautiful site to see! You can take a day road trip from New Hampshire to Vermont in September through late October to see Mother Nature in all of her glory. It might just seem that every road in New Hampshire has been waiting for you to feast your eyes on their trees.

Colorado

For a true mix of mountains, plains, and a big city then you have to head over to Colorado this Fall. Colorado flirts with snow sometimes in September, but it doesn’t tend to stick. They then have another month or so of fall until late October. High in the Rocky Mountains you can see the flowers and trees shed their lush greenness for some really vibrant fall colors. There is nothing quite like seeing one of Colorado’s many waterfalls cloaked in fall colors – in one word – beautiful.

Alaska
It might be a long flight to head to Alaska for the Fall, but boy is it worth it! Whether you are in Denali National Park or Talkeetna, both north of Anchorage, you will see colors in shades of yellow you never knew existed. Fall starts there in late August and continues through October. If you are lucky you might see a Bull Moose with a rack of antlers off in the distance in the safety of the woods. From the yellowing lily ponds to the golden leaves of the Aspens, Alaska is gorgeous in the fall! Oh, and you can even see the Northern Lights in the Fall too! Bonus!

Oregon
Driving the Oregon coast during the Fall season is about the most amazing thing ever. On one side you have these huge cliffs and the pounding surf and on the other, trees in various shades of red, yellow, orange, and green. Head into the center of Oregon to see the Pacific Northwest putting on a Fall display that will quickly make this one of your favorite fall travel destinations.

All of those make for beautiful Fall destinations. You’re so right! I haven’t visited any of them in far, far too long!

I totally agree with this list. I am in New Hampshire a great deal; travel to Colorado but not as much as I’d like; always wanted to move to Alaska. I have never been to Oregon though but I hear great things about it.

I love to just drive up the Taconic State Parkway in NY. The colors are magnificent. I have been to New Hampshire and Vermont in the fall as well–spectacular.

Even though I just have to walk out my backdoor to see the beautiful colors of the leaves changing, I would love to visit some of these places. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Thanks for sharing.
