Beauty Tips - Benefits of Using Bath and Beauty Products with Seaweed in them

Bath and beauty products have been infused with ingredients gathered from our oceans for years. Like most other natural products, everything from algae to sea salt is able to provide some benefit to our skin, hair and nails. Lately, seaweed has been popping up on ingredient labels and it turns out it actually helps with a lot of skin and beauty issues. Here are some of the benefits of using bath and beauty products with seaweed in them.

Seaweed as an Exfoliate

Turns out seaweed can be harvested and then used in many different forms. When it is allowed to harden and then added to soaps and scrubs it makes a great exfoliant for the entire body. The natural moisturizing benefits of using seaweed are a bonus.

Fights the Signs of Aging

Seaweed is packed with antioxidants that fight molecules that cause signs of aging to appear on skin faster than necessary. The same properties lock in moisture and improve the elasticity of skin so not only does it improve the feel of your skin, but it restores health and leaves it looking younger with regular use.

Removes Impurities from Skin

One of the benefits so many ingredients from the sea are capable of is pulling impurities from the skin so that they can no longer damage skin. Seaweed has several vitamins and antioxidants that are able to bond with impurities that are left on your skin, essentially pulling them out and removing them.

Adds Shine to Hair
Seaweed extract is able to add shine to otherwise dull hair, treated or not. The same properties that strip and then repair your skin, can strip and repair your hair. Immediately after washing you will notice that your hair is so much more manageable and easy to style.

Pulling impurities from the skin sounds very good to me. When the liver is not working properly, the skin takes over to help it out. If this can help pull out impurities,… I am all for it.

You just reminded me of my childhood. We live right off of Cape Cod, but we always rented a house on the beach every summer while I was growing up & my mother used to go out and collect up seaweed and then she’d put it on her face. She said it kept her young….maybe there was something to it.

I have never attempted to use products with seaweed in them mainly because I am allergic to iodine and if even a smidgin is put on my face I break out like crazy in a rash!! Do not even ask what happens when I eat shrimp, lobster etc which I love -My entire body from head to toe itches!! I would be willing to try this product after ascertaining there is nothing in it that will make me itch!!

I haven’t considered seaweed in products before but I’m not opposed to trying out new things. I test products all the time and I would love to try a decent face cream. I would wonder how it would react to sensitive skin. I would think it would be great on sensitive skin because it’s a natural product.
