In the last 1 1/2 years we have been traveling to Texas more than ever! The close proximity to our home and vast family attractions make Texas an easy choice for family travel. This Spring is no exception. We are packing the kids up and heading to Houston for Spring Break.
While we are in the Houston area, we will be traveling to Galveston Island, TX which is approximately 1 hour from our Houston hotel to spend some time at the Schlitterbahn Resort and Water Park in. As you may remember, I recently took the kiddos to South Padre and New Braunfels for some Schlitterbahn fun which was a HUGE hit!
Schlitterbahn is know for giving families electrifying fun especially on the World’s Most Award Winning Uphill Water Coaster, The Master Blaster, which turns 20 this year! Found at Schlitterbahn New Braunfels park it was a family favorite. Built in 1996, this 2.5 minute ride is over 65 feet tall and sends guests on an exhilarating ride down two, 3 story drops.
The Schlitterbahn Resort and Water Park in Galveston Island TX has been on our to-do list since we visited the Schlitterbahn South Padre Island Waterpark which celebrates their
15 year anniversary of the opening. Built in 2001, this park is home to our Transportainment River system that is designed to maximize time in the water and eliminate lines. If you think this ride is just for kids, you’re wrong!
My mother, younger sister and I spent hours on the river system connects eight attractions that feature rapids, chutes, and gentle currents. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy your tube ride while you tan.
Waterpark can be pricey but what makes Schlitterbahn an economical choice is that you can save money by taking advantage of their free parking, free life jackets, and families can bring in an ice chest full of food and drinks!
While visiting the Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, we took advantage and brought an ice chest of bottle water, juice packs and made our lunches for the entire family. We also brought cold veggies and fruit to snack on as well. The food prices inside the park are reasonable and offer healthy options as well!
Built in 2006, Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark is located on historical Galveston Island and has been voted as the World’s Best Indoor Waterpark for 8 straight years. The park offers more than 33 attractions and a mile long Transportainment River system. To celebrate its 10 year anniversary, Galveston will be unveiling a new ride, which will be the world’s tallest water coaster – MASSIV.
What’s a Water Coaster? A water coaster is a water ride that has multiple uphill sections, uses a ride vehicle (boat, tube, or raft), and has other ride elements (spirals, fish ladders, water screens, etc.) to deliver a thrilling and fun filled ride. Daniella, my 25 year old sister is coming with us is spring so if she’s reading this~~> BE PREPARED!
But don’t worry, toddlers and younger school-aged children have lots to do as well. My son LOVES the inland surfing on the Boogie Bahn which can be succeeded with one or two lesson or have some fun at the splash zones which are designed to be safe for the littlest waterpark guests.
Don’t forget to visit Schlitterbahn.com and enter any contests on the Schlitterbahn Waterparks, South Padre Island, Galveston Island, or New Braunfels Facebook pages.
