Earlier this month, Tallahassee took me to a many wonderful museums and attractions. I visited some of Florida’s finest museums that were bursting with rich history, and was transported back in time to experience some amazing historical artifacts with my own two eyes during my 4 day stay.
As much as I loved visiting each historic destination on my itinerary, another part of my trip that I haven’t gotten the chance to fill my readers in on yet were some of the delightful eateries I was able to see during my visit in the sunshine state. The restaurants aren’t big chains like a lot of the run of the mill locations throughout the US, all of the Tallahassee restaurants I visited provided their own unique charm and delicious dishes that made for an amazing experience each time.
Front Porch: Considered to be the most popular seafood places in North Florida, the Front Porch uses only the freshest farm to table produce and local seafood. Along with a dinner and lunch menu, they also offer a cocktail menu for their visitors and a back porch setting for them to enjoy each on. Menu items at the Front Porch include front porch cevichi, coconut cream cake, fried oyster cocktail, chicken and waffles, and much more! Be prepared to enjoy a delicious and flavorful twist on Gulf Coast Cuisine.
Shell’s Oyster Bar: If you loved great seafood at an affordable price then Shell’s Oyster Bar is the place to go if you’re headed to northern Tallahassee. Raw oysters, fried shrimp, hush puppies, cole slaw and cheese grits are some of the dishes served up to customers at Shell’s. Love Gulf Coast seafood? Be sure to try the friend shrimp!
Nefertaris: At Nefertaris Fine Cuisine and Spirits the staff is committed to providing their guests with the finest entertainment and dining experience. Prepare yourself for a royal experience! They’ve made it their mission to provide you with fresh, organic farm-to-table ready culinary creations that are fit for royalty. Menu items include Vegan Chitterlings, Honey Eggplant, Caribbean Jerk, Classic Greek Salads and much, much more. Nefetaris is an explosion of flavors and perfect for those wanting a diverse cultural food experience.
Bella Bella: Come from Italian descent or just plain adore some Italian cooking? Bella Bella is the place to try! They offer authentic, Italian cuisine in their cozy, home-style atmosphere. Bella Bella has been locally owned and operated out of Tallahassee for 14 years, offering a taste of Italy with dishes like their Stuffed Mushrooms, Fresh Salad, Chicken Parmesan Subs, Bread Baskets and Fettuccine Alfredo. 2 words for you: Bubble Bread!
A La Provence: If elegant dining with the added bonus of an affordable price tag is something you’ve been looking to incorporate into your dining routine in the Tallahassee area then A La Provence has just what you’ve been looking for. A La Provence offers French Classics as well as Euro-American Cuisine. Menu items to experience during your visit can include Lobster Bisque, Fruits De Mer, Escargot Casserole, and Vegetarian One Pot. If your feeling adventurous, try the Charcuterie board paired with a glass of wine.

Awesome suggestions. I MIGHT be in that area later this summer, so now I know where to eat
Oh my goodness! I shouldn’t be reading this when I’m trying not to eat everything in sight! Front Porch and A La Provence definitely peeked my interest if I ever get the chance to visit Tallahassee.
I don’t think I have eaten at any of these. But the Front Porch sounds amazing.
Oh we really do like Bella Bella, we’ve eaten there once on our way south. It not my gran’s cooking but it sure was good!
I love that they have unique restaurants and not a lot of chain ones. The front porch food totally fits it’s name.. home country food right there! Looks delicious.
Ok this all just look way too delicious! I don’t know that I’ll be in the area ever, but you sure have made it very tempting… You never know I just might pop by
Wow, the food looks amazing! I love traveling and experiencing the food because it tells a lot about the local culture.
I try to find new & exciting places to eat when I’m traveling solo. I would love to go to each one of these places. I’m loving how many restaurants offer locally grown and raised foods.
I like to find some hole-in-the-wall joints. When I passed through Tallahassee a couple of years ago, we ate at VooDoo Dog. It was quite an interesting place, and the hot dogs were pretty good.
