One of our favorite port destination cities is Cozumel, Quintana Roo Mexico! We visit Cozumel on almost every Western Caribbean cruise from the New Orleans area. The Puerta Maya Cozumel cruise port is well-built. Cozumel is a safe, clean and beautiful destination and is the No. 1 cruise port in the world. The island is home to many all-inclusive hotels thanks in part to the beautiful varied beaches in the area. With so many excursion options in Cozumel, finding a reliable, safe Continue Reading

Cruise Port Excursions – What To Do in Progreso, Yucatán Mexico #BayouTravel

When planning your cruise, it's important to also consider various types of port excursions based on weather, cost and time. On our recent cruise port stop we visited Progreso Mexico. While we initially considered ATV or swimming in the cenotes, I was apprehensive due to the weather. The weather in early February could go either way so we decided to take the free port shuttle bus into Progreso and "wing it". My family & I boarded the Auto Progreso free bus shuttle at port and Continue Reading

As you can imagine, parasailing is a top water activity & cruise excursion in Mexico. Last April I went on a cruise with several blogger pals which included a port stop in Cozumel Mexico. Cruise Ship Excursions: Punta Sur Eco Beach Park in Cozumel Mexico #BayouTravel

Cozumel is likely to be a port city in most cruise ship itinerary, I try to experience different excursion opportunity when planning our next stop in Cozumel. Since our recent visit occurred in February, I was nervous about the water temperature and the possibility of colder weather in Cozumel. We decided to visit Punta Sur Eco Beach Park which offers everything from a beach, restaurant, lighthouse, museums and small ruins directly on site. Punta Sur Eco Beach Park is the largest Continue Reading

Cruise Travel: Top Tips for Cruising With Children #BayouTravel

Disclosure: My recent Royal Caribbean cruise aboard Liberty of the Seas was part of a press trip. My thoughts and opinions are always my own. Thousands of people in a single area, lots of pools, and plenty of places to get lost. There are a lot of reasons for families to avoid cruises. But for every potential negative there are plenty of positives as well. Taking a cruise Continue Reading
