My kids (especially my son) love the swamp. Living so close to the Honey Island Swamp we have seen our fair share of gators in our lifetime. So it was no surprise that my family would want to stop at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park during our recent trip to St. Augustine. The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park began in the late 1800’s as a small exhibition of Florida reptiles and soon became one of Florida’s Top Family Attraction. Today the accredited zoo serves as part attraction and part scientific research center.
Like so much of St. Augustine, history plays an important part at St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park. But like other attractions in the area the Alligator Farm is constantly bringing life into a attraction classic with new exhibits, adventure like the Crocodile Crossing and of course hands on wildlife shows for guest.
Educational travel is very important to my family. We strive to bring education along in our journey and loved the wildlife shows available during our visit. The Alligator Feedings, reptile show and rainforest review are just a few examples how St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park include hands on educational programs to children and adults.
Although we loved learning about our beloved alligators, there are other swamp creatures that are home to St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park. Various bird species, reptiles and amphibians are also available for viewing. I have to admit I loved watching the Maximo, 15 foot 3 inch, 1,250-pound largest animal at The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park. Maximo hatched from an egg collected by aborigines along an Australian river and grew to his adult size at the Cairn’s Crocodile Farm. You can visit the saltwater alligator up-close and personal in an underwater viewing window.
Whether your family is looking to learn more about animals in their natural swamp habitat or zip across the Alligator Lagoon on Crocodile Crossing, the park’s thrilling new zip-line attraction, you can have both adventure and education at St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park.

[…] 1. St. Augustine Alligator farm-If you are an alligator lover this would be the place to go […]
It has been so many years since I’ve gone to Saint Augustine! I need to plan a trip out there and make sure to include this on our itinerary!
The turtles are cool, the snake scared the wits out of me!! And that gator is smirking. TOTALLY smirking. We need to go to St. Augustine. SOON.
The St. Augustine Alligator Farm is one of my favorite places to visit when we are in Florida. I went many years ago and have a picture of my college age self holding an alligator. Fast Forward….we took our girls there a few summers ago and I have the same picture but with my whole family. I try to not tell people that there is only scotch tape holding the alligator’s mouth closed!
That is definately on my bucket list. I have always wanted to see an aligator farm. The other reptiles look interesting, too… but being that close to aligators would be exciting!
Awwww your photos make me want to go!! I love alligators,,,,,yes they scare me , but love that!!
Wow, that looks like a neat place!! Pinned this post for future vacation ideas!
That must have been fun! I’ve never seen a real alligator!
Your pictures are amazing – I thoroughly enjoyed this post!
My boys would love to get up close to an alligator or even the snake. Me, I will keep far away
I think I might of taken a field trip there a long time ago. Looks fun for the kids.
Now this is a place I would love to visit (for myself) but I know my kids would be terrified. They are not very animal friendly lol hopefully one day I would visit with my husband.
We saw so many alligators in Costa Rica. Such beautiful creatures but kinda scary too. You got pretty up close and personal!
