Christmas-time is coming once again to the sister cities of Shreveport and Bossier City and the duo are pairing up for some great fun this year. Head to the North West corner of the state to enjoy lots of twinkling lights, festive celebrations, cheerful holiday events, and incredible shopping opportunities not found anywhere else.

Local holiday favorites include Christmas in Roseland at the Gardens of the American Rose Center, which get transformed into a winter wonderland full of whimsy and beauty. It features more than one million twinkling lights, lighted displays, Santa’s Candy Shop, giant Christmas Cards to the Community, which were created by area school children, and so much more. Spanning a few weekends of the month, this event features nightly entertainment, photos with Santa, rides on the Roseland Express train, and fun for the entire family.

Christmas in Roseland runs from November 29- December 22, 5:30
p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per carload. Ages 2 and younger receive free admission. Call 318-938-5402 for more information.

If you’re looking for a great shopping experience head over to the Louisiana Boardwalk, which hosts Shreveport-Bossier’s largest Christmas tree. Santa Claus always makes an appearance around Christmas time and there are lots of shops to help you finish that holiday shopping list. Enjoy a ride on the trolley, dinner and a movie. For more information call (318) 752-1455.

Watch as Santa and his elves arrive on the KCS Holiday Express- a real, working locomotive! The whole family can enjoy touring Santa’s dazzlingly decorated train, posing for pictures with Santa and the elves, and enjoying great Christmas music. The KCS Holiday Express will arrive at the KCS Yard,
4500 North Lakeshore Drive, Gate 5, Shreveport from 4 p.m.- 7:30 p.m., Dec 7.

Bring your children to help Santa’s elves in the Toy Making Workshops at Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science Center. Kids will use science and engineering skills to make to toys, like recycled rocket launchers and rockets.

Learn how and why some animals and minerals emit light, examine glowing specimens and see chemical reactions. For more information on either of these events, call 318-424-3466.

Sci-Port: Louisiana Science Center is located at 820 Clyde Fant Parkway, Shreveport. It is open Wednesday-Saturday: 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., Sunday: noon until 5 p.m. For both of these events, which will run from Dec 21- Dec 30. Admission is Free.

Hello. Do you know of any Bossier City residents with extreme Christmas decorations that would be interested in being featured in a local publication?
