Minden has been dubbed the “Friendliest City in the South,” and this little city is ready to celebrate Christmas with you! You can enjoy the holidays here by visiting Santa, shopping locally-owned antique stores and specialty shops, and touring local museums and art galleries.
Right on the tail of the German Mardi Gras- Fasching- kick-off, Minden is now decorated with thousands of Christmas lights and hundreds of nutcrackers as part of this year’s Christmas displays. Fireworks, parades, Christmas concerts, and tours will all be part of the holiday celebrations. Check out the Winter Wonderland Festival, held at The Farm at 419 E. Union Street in Minden. This is a new event and will feature jewelry makers, artists, candy makers, doll makers, and craftsmen of all sorts. It’s a great place to find a unique Christmas gift. The festival starts at noon on December 7 and lasts until 7 p.m that night. Admission is free.
Not far from Minden is the great town of Springhill, which will hold the Springhill Main Street “Christmas on Main” event on December 12, beginning at 10 a.m and lasting all day. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with visitors at AmJenn’s Soups & Scoops, 218 North Main Street. You can have free photos taken of your children with Santa. For more information call 318-539-5699.
