If you are taking a cruise and will be making a stop at Isla de Roatán, Honduras, you may be wondering what to do on your cruise port day. Check out this list of activities that will provide plenty of memories.

Enjoy some snorkeling, or if you prefer do some diving. You can do wreck diving (visit a sunken wreck), a shark dive or a dolphin dive. You can also enjoy a non-dive experience to explore the coral reef. There are glass bottom boat tours for this.

Visit the butterfly garden and see some toucans while you are at it.

Go zip-lining through the canopy — cowabunga!

Visit the small zoo, the Mayan Canopy Jungle and see monkeys and a few other small creatures.

Take a boat tour through Mangrove tunnels and see this amazing feature of nature.

Visit the Roatán Institute of Marine Sciences and museum to make your trip educational.

Visit Gumbalimba Park animal preserve and botanical garden or make a visit to Carambola Botanical Gardens. You can also visit local mountains while you’re at it.

“Hole in the Wall” restaurant/attraction

For shopping, visit West End and Coxen Hole. While you’re in Coxen Hole, stop by the Coxen Hole City Park.

For beach fun, visit Tabyana Beach, West Bay Beach, Half-Moon Bay Beach Area, or Sandy Beach. While you’re at one of the beaches, do some horseback riding.

Take a tour of the island coast and visit some shipwrecks for a creepy bit of flavor on your cruise port day.

Check out the deep sea submersible in West End Village.

Take a kayak trip around the island.

Go paddle boating.

Soak up the sun and enjoy the view!

Whatever you choose to do during your cruise port day on Isla de Roatán, rest assured there is plenty to do. It may be difficult to really make a choice. Plan ahead so you can squeeze every bit of adventure out of the hours you have available. Check into times, locations, fees, and other details about the activities that are of most interest to you.

Figure out what adventures you want to tackle and then make a plan and a loose itinerary so you can fit in everything you want to do while on your port day. The main thing you need to do while you are visiting Isla de Roatán is to relax and enjoy every bit of your time spent on this beautiful island. Take your sunscreen and your camera and don’t forget your sense of adventure!

    I know I would like to experience all those activities-except the diving!! I’d be happy viewing from a glass bottom boat! No I have never been to Honduras but after reading this would love to go there but for a lot longer then just a port call for a day!
