One of the recent impact of Hurricane Isaac has been an influx of Ants. I overheard my coworkers discussing new bug problems since the storm had passed. Up until that point, it hadn’t affected our home so it wasn’t something I was too concern with. I suppose the ants were just waiting for us to make one small slip up., waiting in the shadows until we let our guard down. A few days after our power was restored our area was in danger of flooding due to the Pearl River on a continuous rise and our locks that protected our river not having pressure released at the appropriate time. So, we packed our some of our belongs and went to my mother’s home until the potential danger had passed. No damage was done & officials were able to relieve the pressure. We returned home with our furry pooch & her dog food. Unfortunately the new bag of dog food was left somewhat opened & not in the dog food container it should have been in.
This was the opportunity the Ants were waiting for. Within a day of our not placing the newly opened dog food bag (I blame my husband) I noticed Ants…tons of Ants!! My daughter & I had just returned from a recent grocery shopping trips to replace any food consumed or lost during Hurricane Isaac. After all our food was unloaded we noticed the trail of ants that roamed near the dog food area & our own food storage area as well. I was furious at my husband, but was in complete panic mode. I knew I had to make every effort to kill any ants before they entered our Food Panty.
My daughter & I was sparying the Ants with Clorox Clean -Up (I know, not very humane) until I remembered I had been sent Combat – Source Kill Max Ant Bait and Gel to review!! I had never been so appreciative of being a blogger and ran to our storage area to test the product out. There was no room for failure at this point. I used both the gel & the bait traps and instantly notice the results. The product claims to start killing ants in hours so you can see immediate results. But it actually started working as soon as I used the gel. With only 1 shot of Ant Killing Gel, I was able to create a barrier at the doorway so no more ants came into the house. Then, once I used the initial cleaning spray (over-dramatic I know) I used the using the Ant Traps. By using the traps, the ants pass the bait on to kill the queen and destroy the colony. This meant there was no reoccurring episode of Ants intruding the house or dog food area again. Combat is one of the fastest active ingredients you can buy to kill ants, so I knew I would be in good hands in protecting our dog food & the food we had just replenished for our family.

Even though I had tackled the initial Ant Killing Gel, my daughter helped me tear apart of the Ant Killing Baits & place them in the dog food area once everything had been taken care of. The product was easy to use and were completely child proof and not a danger for my pet.
When my husband returned from football practice with my son, almost everything had been taken care of. I was wore out, but I knew all the money I had invested to replenish our home after the storm would not go to waste. Next time we know better! But I still blame my husband, It’s all his fault!!

We have had carpenter ants in our sunroom!! I hear them moving and working their way in our wall and they sound ghostly – it’s creepy lol
No bug issues in the apartment yet, but we used to get flants at my parents’ house.
This stuff is awesome for getting rid of ants. I looked all over town for it a few weeks ago, and finally found it at Home Depot.
I get ants during Summer months and I’ll have to keep this in mind for next year.
