Camping Trip Organization Tips - how to prepare for your next family camping trip #BayouTravel

Planning a camping trip, particularly one that will go on for longer than a weekend can take a lot of work. There are a lot of supplies that you need when camping that you would not normally take with you on a trip. All of this extra “stuff” means that you need to be pretty organized in order to fit everything in the car, and to make sure you don’t forget anything. The camping organization tips below can help you pack quickly and take the stress out of planning your next camping trip.

Make a List

One of the easiest and most useful camping trip organization tips, is to make a list. Making a list of every item you need and want to bring is a simple way to make sure everything gets packed. REI.com offers a great printer friendly camping checklist that you can use.

Organize Like You Would at Home

When it comes to organizing some camping supplies, sometimes it is easier to do it just like you would at home. For instance, you can get a three drawer organizer that can easily fit in a trunk to work as a portable kitchen. The top drawer can hold spices, oil, bread crumbs and other cooking essentials, the middle drawer can hold cooking utensils, and the bottom can hold other supplies such as paper towels, tin foil, sponges, dish soap and more. Organizers like this are easily to slip into the trunk, and are a great shape for stacking other items around or on top of.

Label, Label, Label

Labeling drawers, doors, bins and boxes is a great way to make sure you stay organized when camping. If you are tent camping, use pencil boxes to hold each person’s bathroom essentials, label them with names and you have a grab and go kit ready for shower time. Labeling where everything going makes sure that everything has a place, and will ensure that nothing gets forgotten or left behind.

Camping is a great family activity, but it is not much fun when you are unprepared and things get forgotten. The camping trip organization tips like the ones above can help you plan ahead, and make sure your trip goes smoothly.

We don’t camp, but that is a great checklist. I am sure a lot of people will be able to use that.

I am not a camper at all. But many of my friends are devoted campers. Many of my family members are also devoted campers. I am not a fan of not having running water and bathrooms and all the amenities of home. I think I could manage a cabin or a yurt though. Anyways this is a great list and I will share it with my audience because they are the ones that matter.

That’s smart to carry over the organization style you already do at home. That would make total sense to everyone!

I’ve never gone camping! It’s WAY too humid to do so now in Florida, but I’d love to give it a try one day.
