2012 Operation: Save Money

With the New Year upon us, I plan on doing a Savings Challenge in January. Starting January 2012, I will be keeping exact details (and disclosing information) on how much I spend on household goods, entertainment, and any necessities outside of normal monthly bills. This total will also include drive thru perks, coffees, even restaurant totals. Normally, this is my downfall since my husband & I enjoy taking the kids out to eat at least once a week.

Even though I do this on a monthly basis for myself, I normally don’t mind splurging every now and then, especially when I come home from work and pick up carryout ( like I did today) or going out with friends or family. I also splurge a little when stockpiling large amounts or when I go into my home away from home Sam’s Club.

But since I need to practice what I preach, I’m off to spend as close to ZERO as possible. I’d love for you to participate!!

Feel free to comment at the end of every month’s Spending Summery and let me know how you did for the month! What made you spend a little more than normal? Did you come up with a creative away to save some extra cash on your families household needs?

My goal is to take the money I was able to save and make a large purchase at the end of 2012. What would you love to save your money for?
