Pet Travel: What to Consider when Traveling with Your Pet #BayouTravel

I love my pet but sometimes traveling with man's best friend is not always an option. Although finding someone to care for our precious Mia (and 9 chickens) when we are away is always an obstacle, it's something we take very seriously. There are many factors involved and when the scenario is ideal, Mia comes with us. If you are traveling with children or with pets, there are definitely some extra things you need to take into consideration. Taking your fur baby along on your trip means Continue Reading

September 18, 2012 by Maria

School is in and you know what that means- GERMS. No matter how many times we tell our children to wash their hands, they are still going to get sick from germs at school. Really, their going to get sick from anywhere but school is a constant battle for many families. My almost 12 year old daughter has anti bacterial containers everywhere from her locker to her backpack, but my 8 year old is prone to sickness this time of year. Aside from school, our own home can carry germs & bacteria. Continue Reading

Don’t Run For Your Lives, Run For Combat! Combat – Source Kill Max Ant Bait and Gel Review & Giveaway Ends 9/17

September 10, 2012 by Maria

One of the recent impact of Hurricane Isaac has been an influx of Ants. I overheard my coworkers discussing new bug problems since the storm had passed. Up until that point, it hadn't affected our home so it wasn't something I was too concern with. I suppose the ants were just waiting for us to make one small slip up., waiting in the shadows until we let our guard down. A few days after our power was restored our area was in danger of flooding due to the Pearl River on a continuous rise and our Continue Reading

Mr. Chewy Product Review

January 19, 2012 by Maria

With all the meal planning, budgeting, & bargain shopping that I do, one thing that always passes my thoughts is dog food. Since our dog Mia is an old elderly canine, we can't just purchase just any brand of food for her. She is frail ( due to an accident she had prior to our parents adopting her) & cold weather really takes a toll on her bones. And since she doesn't get much exercise, weight management is also a factor. Mr. Chewy.com is a great resource for someone who like who is Continue Reading

The Shelter Pet Project

December 5, 2011 by Maria

Back in 2004, my parents & youngest sister (then a teen) went to the local shelter to adopt a new dog. Her name was Mia. Mia was gentle, mild mannered canine who's favorite activities included, well...sleeping. Mia was adorable mature dog who had several health problems. In addition to being an older dog, she had been hit by a moving vehicle resulting in a limp to both her hind legs. It was also believed that Mia's former family had physically abusive toward her. I remember Mia when my Continue Reading
