DespicableMe 2
Are you ready for the new Despicable Me 2 movie? Scheduled to hit theaters July 2nd, 2013, the much anticipated beloved Minions are back! What better way to get moviegoers excited than promoting the movie in gigantic proportions. The Despicablimp is one of 15 airships flying in the world. It is currently flying over 15,000 feet into the air traveling from California to Florida and everywhere in between.

I’m not sure which of my children was more excited but they both couldn’t wait to possibly ride the blimp. The Despicablimp was in Houston when the bad weather arrived to New Orleans so the trip was delayed several days. Luckily for us, Saturday morning was full of sunshine yet very windy. We were not able to ride the airship that day, but we were allowed to sit inside the Despicablimp and meet the pilots who navigate the massive airship throughout its tour.

Going a maximum 45 miles an hour, the aircraft 165 feet long and 55 feet tall. The gondola can fit up to 8 passengers plus the pilot. If that isn’t enough to get the kids excited, I’m not sure what will. When I posted on Facebook that I had this amazing opportunity scheduled, my friends mentioned they had just seen the Minion flying in the sky in North Louisiana. It’s definitely a shop stopper and will catch your eye instantly.

Both pilots were very nice & thoughtful with all the children present. We learned some very interesting fact from how they navigate the aircraft to the challenges and excitement they endure everyday. Each pilot takes a 10 hour shift flying the Despicablimp. And guess what? There are NO bathrooms!!

The cast of Despicable Me 2 stars: Steve Carell, Al Pacino, Elsie Fisher, Steve Coogan, Russell Brand, Miranda Cosgrove & Kristen Wiig. You can track the Despicablimp by visiting the command center Website & follow the Despicablimp on Twitter. You can also share your own pictures of the Despicablimp on social media sites by using the hashtag: #despicablimp. Don’t forget that Despicable Me 2 hits theaters July 3rd, 2013.
