Last Minute Travel Packing Tips Plus Gulf Island Waterpark Giveaway #Nola #GulfCoast

Like many bloggers I occasionally attend a few events throughout the year that requires me to leave for an occasional conference or blogger event. In May I have 2 trips scheduled which requires me to leave for a few days. With blogging, my regular daytime job and the kids/husband responsibilities my time, like many mothers, is stretch to full capacity. Although I am excited for my trips, I also know my time prior to the trips are very slim. One thing on my mind is packing. I wish I could say that the pacing for my trip next week is complete but let’s face it, I will probably pack the night before and shove a few extra things in my suitcase as I am leaving the house. So what’s a last minute packer to do?

Last Minute Packing 101

Since I’m focusing on solely myself, packing shouldn’t be difficult. What should I pack? Is this too much luggage? Did I forget anything?

1. Get an Overall Idea Of The Trip For Feel On Items Are Necessary To Pack
My events are very detail I know for one trip I will need a mix of causal/professional clothing & extra shoes to match.

2. Keep Geography In Mind
Will you be on the beach? In a cold conference room? Will you be light sweater weather or will a bathing suit needed? Make sure to pack fully for the geography of the trip which means if you’re packing for the beach make sue you also bring items like sunblock, towels, sandals etc.

3. Technology Is Your Friend
Since my trips are blogger events, naturally I’m going to have all my tech gadgets. But I’m also going to have a ‘written” list of emergency phone numbers and actual paper maps on hand. If your GPS goes out while driving, You don’t want to be stranded in an unfamiliar friend.

4. Bring Additional Travel Bags
For some reason anytime I leave my home for a trip I come back with more than what I left with. Bring a few extra reusable bags so you can bring souvenirs home for the family. Also, in the case that your travel bag/luggage brakes, you have something to carry additional items when returning home. Nothing is worse than buying an additional storage bag 3x’s it’s value at the airport or gas station.

5. Don’t forget Your Feet
While I don’t want to spend too much time on clothing, shoes will brake! Always have a backup shoes when traveling or bring a pair of inexpensive flip flops for traveling home. Luckily in my case, my daughter & I wear the same size shoes & my son is almost the same size as well. I can bring a black pair of flip flops and leave them in the car or in my backpack for last minute use.

6. Extra, Extra Read All About It
I always bring a book (or my Kindle) to read when traveling. Whether your in a car or in the airport waiting for your next flight, make sure to have something to keep your mind occupied. Also, it is much more economical than purchasing it last minute.

7. COMMUNICATE
Make sure you stay in touch with family when traveling. If I am at a layover or stuck in mid day traffic I want my family to know my ETA may be off. You definitely don’t want your family to worry.
