Saying Thank You for Local Service & Community – International Credit Union Day {spon}

Louisiana Credit Unions for International Credit Union Day.

Not long after my husband and I got married 18 years ago, we decided to join a local credit union. The main reason: Community. Local credit unions want individuals and small businesses to prosper, that’s why they go the extra mile by offering resources like loans and other services to their members. Not only do they offer the same services large banks do, they offer them at a lower costs so we can put that money back into our local economy. Plus, a local credit union offers the face to face relationship and understands local need which intimately ties our community together.

My husband and I have been researching vehicles and honestly, the entire thing depresses me. I seek solace in the fact that my local, Louisiana credit union can offer a better interest rate and will make securing loan approval less stressful. Plus my loan will help boost our local economy out and provide the economic impact in our community needs.

Did you know that today is International Credit Union Day? You might think Credit Unions are just another kind of banks, but you’d be very wrong. Credit Unions are members of our local community, and work very differently than the large banks you might be familiar with. In 2014 alone, Louisiana credit unions provided more than 282,000 consumer loans and over $180 million in business loans.

    I had no idea that it is Credit Union day! I love using credit unions they always seem so much friendlier then big national bank chains are. A lot of our credit unions are super active in the community as well.

    I love this! I had a navy federal credit union years ago started by my aunt and I let it go because there was none near me and it was hard to get access to my money…would you know they now built one near me smh.

    I love my credit union! We have refinanced both of our cars through our credit union and I love having my savings accounts at the credit union. It helps me to save for Christmas!

    My husband and I both deal with major banks. But over the past several years we have chatted about the pros and cons of moving our money to a credit union.

    We joined our first credit union for the same reasons. The support the offer is nearly unmatched and we also took advantage of that opportunity when making some of our first purchases as a married couple.

    My husband and I have been banking at our local credit union for the last 10 years, we couldn’t imagine banking anywhere else! I’m so proud of how much they give back to the community! :) Thank you for sharing awareness of this great occasion! :)
