Classroom Halloween Recipes-Chocolate Covered Popcorn Balls

When my children were little Pinterest was non- existent. Baking treats for your little one and a classroom party was not as daunting as it is now. I’m always looking to make life easier by crating simple holiday treats that ALL moms can make, even those that swear they can’t bake! Today i’m sharing a fun and very easy to make fall classroom party treats.

Ingredients:

1 bag microwave popcorn
¼ cup butter
1 10oz bag mini marshmallows
1 bag milk chocolate candy melts
1 bag dark chocolate chips
1 package fall decorating sprinkles
paper lollipop sticks

Instructions:

In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. When butter is completely melted, add mini marshmallows. Stir marshmallow and butter mixture over medium heat until marshmallows are completely melted. While marshmallows are melting, make microwave popcorn according to package instructions.Once marshmallows have melted, add the popcorn to the butter and marshmallow mixture. Stir to coat all popcorn with the marshmallows.Let popcorn cool until it is easy to handle.Coat your hands with butter or shortening and begin packing the popcorn into balls. I like mine about the size of a baseball.

Once packed and shaped into a ball, place them on a sheet of parchment paper to finish cooling. Insert a lollipop stick into each popcorn ball. While popcorn balls are cooling, melt candy melt according to package instructions. When candy melt is smooth, coat each popcorn ball with a layer of chocolate and return to parchment paper to harden.
