I’m a busy Madre, but not busy enough that I can find time to cook for my family. Since I have older children that have football and volleyball practice in the evenings, I need to make sure that dinner is quick and easy. We love shrimp and fortunate to have large, meaty Gulf Shrimp in season.

Using fresh ingredients like shrimp allows me to cook a nice dinner without having to worry about thawing out ingredients or cooking for long periods of time in the kitchen. Grilled shrimp is a family favorite in our house. To maximize flavor we use ingredients like bold El Yucateco Hot Sauce that is big on flavor and not just heat in your mouth. Adding El Yucateco Hot Sauce makes a bland dinner, flavorful with just a few drops.

With several different El Yucateco habanero flavors available you can find right choice for your family fairly easy. I found several different varieties including Black Label Reserve which is found exclusively at your local Walmart. You will have no problem finding all varieties located in the Walmat Hispanic/Latino Food section. Having several different varieties allows us to adjust how much flavor we need in various different cuts of meat or seafood. Black Label Reserve is a new flavor that packs a major punch but a great combination creating a marinade like I did for our fresh shrimp.

As you can see by my pictures, I simply used all the ingredients in the recipe card and created a simple marinade. The great thing about marinades is you can easily adjust the recipe to taste. I started with the olive oil and added El Yucateco hot sauce. Then I added dry ingredients like brown sugar, salt, pepper and paprika. Once all my ingredients were mixed together I added the juice of 2 limes to my marinade. Use a small wisk to create a nice thick marinade. Too think? Just add more olive oil or lime juice. Adjustments are easy to make!

I then brushed on my marinade to my large Gulf Shrimp. I used my left over limes and sliced them to throw on the grill as well.

If you have skewers, you can add the shrimp to your skewers for easy grilling and less mess. Once your grill is hot, it will take a few minutes to grill each side of your shrimp. Each side took less than 5 minutes which allows me additional time to spend with my family versus in the kitchen. Once my grilled shrimp was complete I added a small kale salad and a small helping of fideo.

My entire dinner took less than 30 minutes which included creating the marinade and making my side dishes. I have a happy family with full bellies. My twist on grilled shrimp is easy to make and has an incredible bold flavor. You can additional El Yucateco recipes HERE. e sure to follow the El Yucateco Facebook page as well for additional recipes and creative meal solutions.
