One Word: Football

I know what your thinking. Your thinking Football? Already?

Yes, baseball & softball season has been over for a full 5 weeks, which can only mean mothers all over have had sarcasm approaching plenty of time to rest from one sports season to the next. During baseball playoffs, my son had mentioned to me that he was ready for football season. I remember thinking to myself, “I’m not ready for another sport, not yet”.

But here it is, my first football post of the season.

Recently my son went to a free local football camp held by a local football organization my son & many other children nearby play for. In case your not familiar with weather in Southeast Louisiana it goes like this: Hot, Hotter, and Hell wants it’s weather back! So needless to say, it was a scorcher at camp.

Members from the Saints & NCAA LSU Organizations were on hand to help with camp. Staff from both organizations were on hand to help the children with their conditioning skills as well as promoting their Play 60 Campaign. Aside from safety, my main concern was dehydration or getting overheating but the facility was able to provide water a few feet away from the next available cooling station.

After a long workout, all the kids at camp were able to enjoy lunch donated by a local Chic fil a Restaurant. Good thing all the kids were starving at this point because they had enough food to feed a football team!

I may not be ready for school or shuttling kids to & from football practice, but I love seeing my son have a good time, work up a sweat, & gain confidence in himself and his teammates. It’s even worth bracing a heatwave in Southeast Louisiana.

This will be our first year as a cheerleader family! (No boys so this is as close as we get to being a football family.)
