I have been a AT&T mobile phone customer for over 10 years. One reason I chose AT&T, aside from being the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network is convenience and low price. So when my teen first requested a mobile phone i simply added an additional line with no data. The phone was simply “just for emergencies”. Once my teenage daughter got older, she needed data. I tried several prepaid mobile phone companies and were satisfied. At the time, it was enough for my daughter. But data coverage was always an issue. Speed and connectivity was always lackluster.
I then added an additional iPhone to our family plan. HUGE mistake! HUGE!! The first month we added her to our plan she went through 10G of Data. Yes, I said 10! needless to say she was in major trouble. I found it was best to remove her from my plan and add her to an individual pre-paid plan. AT&T GoPhone was our best route to finding a plan to met her needs yet affordable that she can pay for with her allowance.
Recently we sent a Samsung Express with is offered as a bundle package through AT&T. Their GoPhones offers prepaid cellphones and devices with no annual contract plus you can still enjoy the benefits of being apart of the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network. AT&T offers a variety of 4G and 4G LTE phones and you can select a plan that suits your needs.
Customers can choose from $40 monthly package which 500 minutes of nationwide talk, unlimited text, picture and video messaging, 200mb of data. Or you can get a $60 package which includes unlimited nationwide calls, unlimited messaging and 2gb of data. Don’t forget this includes unlimited text to Mexico & Canada and 100 other countries.
Other packages are available like $50 monthly for unlimited talk, text and WiFi data only. or remove data altogether for $25 a month with 250 talk minutes and unlimited text. Different plans for different types of customers.
This summer, AT&T is working to change perceptions of prepaid phone plans with the GoPhone Freedom Tour. The Gophone Freedom tour is a cross-country journey stopping at the nations top festivals to help Americans find freedom from their wireless contracts. Guess what, they are coming to Louisiana! I’ll share more about that in a bit, I wanted to share my recent experience using the Samsung Freedom and AT&T GoPhone plan first.
As a diehard iPhone user, switching to a Galaxy Freedom was a breeze. The phone was easy to use and functional. One thing I notice is the apps available on the Samsung Galaxy freedom. Our favorite feature was the AT&T Drive Mode feature. As you can see from the pictures above, you can set your phone to drive mode and be free of calls and text. A simple message will occur to let your friends and family know you are driving and will get be in touch soon. I LOVE this! It CAN wait! Having a teenage this feature is perfect for my “almost a teen-driver”.
Data speed is lightning fast! I have wifi in my house so connecting to the internet as home allows my teen to save my data for when she needs it the most. All her other favorite apps are still available via the Samsung Galaxy. We live in a rural area so I natural thought phone quality would be poor but we had crystal clear calls despite having bad weather the last few days.
Overall My teen & I thought the Samsung Galaxy Freedom and AT&T GoPhone prepaid phone plans was a great value for your teen. You can easily budget and use the data calculator to estimate your daily or monthly data usage. I have a feeling 10G of data is no longer in our future. My pocketbook will appreciate it and hopefully my teen learned her lesson.
Also, if your like me and have family in other countries, you can text to Mexico and over 100 other countries for FREE with the $60 pre-paid plan. Perfecto para toda la familia!
Check back next week as I share more information regarding The GoPhone Freedom Tour. The GoPhone Freedom Tour team will be at the Louisiana State Fair from October 30 – November 9, 2014. The team will be offering one-on-one introductions to GoPhone and live hands-on demonstrations of the latest smartphone devices on the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network. Guests can visit the GoPhone 4G LTE Fast Grab Booth for a chance to win a GoPhone prize pack and be entered for a chance to win a brand new device!

This is great, I like that its prepaid but its still a cool phone you know? Most of these prepaid phones are not very cool, AT&T is always hip to what’s up.
I really like the idea of prepaid. As long as it is used for what it is intended for! I have a Samsung galaxy, it is a great phone!
My ten year old keeps asking for a cell phone and obviously he’s not getting one for a few more years, but this sounds like a great plan for when he does get one.
My five year old just asked us yesterday at what age she’ll get a phone. Oh my heart.
This sounds like a great option for teens or for those who want a flexible plan. I love the Drive Mode. I think everyone should use something like that.
Son had a pre paid plan last year but I found it hard to remember to keep it paid up so this year we are looking into a monthly family plan. I do however like the sound of this one it is way better then the one i had.
This sounds like a great phone (love that it’s prepaid) and a great service. My nephew (teenager) has the Samsung Galaxy, and I know he loves it!
I have used AT&T for years, they are my go to wen anyone asks what they should get. They always seem to have the best deals.
Sounds like a great option for teens, younger children or seniors. I love the flexibility of a prepaid option as well. Great pics.
A prepaid phone it the perfect phone it give a teen. There is no reason to worry about them going over minutes and racking up a HUGE phone bill. I have heard the Galaxy is a great phone so it’s nice to know a phone that nice is available as Go phone. My children are not quite old enough for cell phones but they will get pre paid when they are
I was only allowed prepaid phones till I was old enough to take a contract out myself – I think they are a really good idea. x
Prepaid phone plans have many advantages. It’s much easier for me to keep within my budget this way. I love Samsung Galaxy as well, I switched to one two years ago and am so happy I did!
It’s important to be connected to your teen, they need their phones so that you can contact them when ever they go out.
The prepaid phones sound like a great idea for kids. I wish that option had been available when my kids were young.
Their prices are just right! I’ve had AT&T for almost a decade now!
This is definitely the way to go with a teen. They are ALWAYS on their phones!
Sounds like a great deal for my daughter. She could use a phone.
you surprise me telling me it was so easy to switch phones. this is definitively a plan for teens at home
This sounds like a great option. It’s amazing how fast kids can go through data – and how shocking the cell phone bill can be!
Sounds like a great services! Not just for teen either. Great for people that do not want to be locked in a contract.
I think Go Phones/prepaid are always better for teens. Teaches them to use their minutes/data responsibly
maybe I should go with prepaid for the kids. The bills can be so unpredictable
I hope they have this kind of plan for when my kids get a phone. They’re got a few more years yet though. At least!
My kids are almost at the age to have a cell phone. I am glad to know my options.
I love that we can have the peace of mine of being able to contact our kids but also let’s us give them a little of independence. It’s a sweet phone so no worries of them standing out.
I like that you can text country to country for no charge. Things sure have changed (for the better) with phone fees.
That’s really a good idea for a plan, my 15 year old wants a cell phone so this may be the one!
I could really use this for kiddo. Getting him an iPhone on the plan was also a huge mistake because of the data he used. It would be great for him to have the prepaid plan plus he needs a new phone.
Drive mode sounds like a great way to prevent people from talking while they’re drving too fast so that they’d be distracted. I like the auto text fefature.
That looks like a great one from samsung. I am sure it would be convenient too.
