How to Make Your Own DIY Christmas Cards

Although many traditions have changed, writing Christmas cards is one tradition that continues to stay the same throughout the years. Christmas cards are the perfect things to send out to loved ones. This lets them know that they are thought of and gives you a chance to give them a snapshot of how your life is going. Although there are plenty of Christmas cards that you can buy at the store, nothing says that you care like making your own cards. Try this easy craft and send out some beautiful cards this Christmas season.

Supplies DIY Christmas Cards

Supplies
Blank cards & envelopes
Mini cupcake liners – Christmas prints
Wire ribbon
Buttons
Hot glue gun

Step 1 DIY Christmas Cards

Step One
The first step is to get all of your supplies ready. You will need to cut the cupcake liners so that you have only the ruffle part. To do this, cup a straight line up to the base of the liner. You can then cut the base out by following the fold. Do this with 2-3 red and 2-3 green liners. You then need to cut your liners into strips of varying lengths. The lengths depends on the size of your card and the look you are going for, but there should be about 1/2 -1 inch difference in size. Continue cutting smaller strips until you have enough to fill up the card.

Step Two
Now you need to get your ribbon ready. I started with a thicker wire ribbon that was sheer. I wanted the ribbon to be more of an accent and didn’t want it to detract from the cupcake liners. Since I had a thicker ribbon, I cut the ribbon down the middle lengthwise. I then folded the wire accordion style so that the ribbon was cinched. I did this with a few different size cuts of ribbon so that the pieces would fit the different parts of my Christmas tree.

Step 3 Christmas Cards

Step Three

Now that you have all of your supplies cut, it’s time to create your Christmas tree. Start with any color cupcake liner and use your hot glue gun to adhere it to the front of the card. Next you will want to use a piece of ribbon and glue that overlapping the first piece. You will continue this process alternating cupcake liners and ribbon until you are at the top of the tree. Once your tree is complete, you can glue a button on the top for the star. Any style and color button will do.
