DIY Baking Soda Solutions - Easy steps to make your home a little more GREEN!

Baking soda is one of those supplies that can be used for anything and everything. Not only can baking soda be used for cooking, it has many other uses around the house, including cleaning and health solutions. Take a look at how you can use baking soda in every room of your home.

In the Kitchen
Baking soda has many uses around the kitchen. The two main uses of baking soda are to clean and to deodorize. Use a little bit of baking soda in your refrigerator and in the trashcan. This will help keep odor to a minimum, allowing you to enjoy a fresh smelling kitchen. You can also use baking soda to cut grease and grime. Use a little of this product to clean your kitchen appliances such as your microwave and oven. You can sprinkle a little bit of this in pots and pans to get them sparkling clean.

In the Bathroom
Baking soda can also be used in the bathroom. You can mix baking soda and water together to create a scrubbing solution for cleaning tubs, tiles and sinks. You can also allow baking soda to soak in the toilet, making it easier to scrub your toilet bowl clean. Baking soda can clear drains as well. Simply flush this product down the toilet or rinse it down the sink and allow the water to run for a few minutes.

In the Laundry Room
Baking soda is great for getting out odor and stains. Use this product to scrub stains out of clothes, from your whites all the way to bold colors. Since baking soda has a deodorizing effect, add some when you’re washing such items as athletic wear or soiled baby clothes. A little bit of baking soda will even give your laundry detergent the boost it needs to get the job done right.

Around the House
There are other uses for baking soda around the house. You can sprinkle baking soda on your carpet or furniture and vacuum up to help remove odors. This can even help remove any odors from pets. A little bit of baking soda mixed in with water can clean hard surfaces around your home such as floors and tables.

Health Solutions
In addition to cleaning uses around the home, baking soda can be used as a health solution. Baking soda acts as a natural teeth whitener. You can create your own toothpaste using baking soda or you can simply sprinkle some baking soda straight on your toothbrush. You can also mix baking soda with water and swish it as a mouthwash that helps get rid of bad breath. If you have an upset stomach or gas, drink a solution of baking soda water. It will help settle your stomach back to normal.
