Christmas & the Red Dress #RememberWhen #sponsored

When I think of Christmas memories, I always think of my grandparents. My grandmother would bake holiday treats for friends & family while my grandfather would search the sales ads for Christmas dinner items. Grandpa would always assist in gift buying which made my grandmother’s life somewhat easier during the holidays. My grandmother was famous for her crochet blankets and other knitted gifts. In fact, she made it a point that every member of the family had their own crocheted blanket as they got older. Gifts from grandpa were simple yet meaningful. A book (usually the classics) with a handwritten personalized message that would make any teen cry, a pen, and always a box of chocolate covered cherries.

I think about them all the time, but always at Christmas.

I #RememberWhen my youngest sister was 5 years old. Little Daniella was her Papa’s heart! One year she told Santa she wanted a red dress for Christmas. That’s it, a red dress! Simple right? Wrong! Grandpa searched high and low for a red dress. But not just any red dress, he had a specific dress style in mind. He finally found the perfect dress for Daniella. That red dress was more than just a church dress, it was a Christmas memory! He wanted that simple red dress to be the most beautiful red dress she had ever seen. Since that was all she asked for, he wanted to give her “that moment”, a “Remember When” moment, and he did.

My grandfather died when Daniella was about 10 years old yet she still remembers that red dress. In fact, my mother kept that red dress packed away in storage boxes. I think of that red dress and always think of the love my grandparents had for their grandchildren. Memories are something that should always be preserved. We may not have that red dress accessible but the pictures and home movies of her wearing that red dress should always be available! Now, I’m off to hunt for those pictures so I can remember when with my own children this holiday season.

What a very sweet man your Grandfather was. I never really knew any of my Grandparents. I was very young when they died.

What a great idea. I bet my parents would love something like this so they could watch videos of their grandkids while they can’t be with them.

My favorite Christmas moments are waking up on Christmas morning and seeing all the gifts under the tree and opening them. It was the greatest feeling ever as a kid.

Thank you so much for sharing your story of your red dress! My favorite Christmas memories were when my family would go to my gparents house and see what Santa brought us there. My gma always had eggnog, juice, and cookies for us. We’d stay there all day and play with our cousins. It was such a great time..

That’s so awesome that she still remembers the dress even though she was only ten when he passed. I think it’s so important to preserve family memories; I am so thankful for the photos and videos I have from when I was a child, and want to do the same to preserve memories for my children someday that my parents did for me.

Memories are wonderful, but at times hard to pass on. Having photos and films is a much better way. I need to dig out some old photos and movies and have them converted. Thanks for sharing about this company.

That is so cool that they take old video tapes and can put them into media that can be viewed on the ipad! My kids would love that! Unfortunately, we only have pictures from when I was a kid. No video tapes.

I bought my husband a DVD converter and we are slowly transferring our movies over. It is a great gift to be able to watch all of these old memories at your fingertips on the computer.
