Seize the Day….Trip: Trips to Include on Your Next Road Trip – #MsGulfCoast Edition #BayouTravel

When my family moved to S.E Louisiana our summer, like many local families included short trips to Bay St. Louis and Waveland, Mississippi. My father worked off shore for several weeks at a time so my mother and her friend would take our families to the coast for quick beach trip. There were times we would spend the night in a local hotel with both of our families or drive back the same evening. So naturally summer wouldn't be complete without taking my kids for a few day trips to the area to Continue Reading

These off the beaten path locations can be added to your upcoming Louisiana vacation and give visitors (and locals) a unique Louisiana experience. When I started my blog 6 years ago I shared local events, concerts and various Continue Reading

Mission Concepción – San Antonio Missions National Historical Park #BayouTravel

My family and I visited Mission Concepción in San Antonio which is the oldest unrestored stone church in America. Built in the mid 1700's, Mission Concepción looks as it did originally with the exception of it's colorful geometric designs that has since faded over the years. Although the mission has been abandoned for long periods, like San Jose, Mission Concepción is once again used for worship. The Battle of Concepción was fought here on October 28, 1835 between Continue Reading

Tour Companies to Consider in San Antonio, Texas – CitySightSeeing Spotlight #BayouTravel

Being able to travel to a new city and absorb the many sights, smells and experiences is an amazing opportunity for me. I've loved traveling ever since I was a kid, so being able to travel as an adult and really soak up the experience of traveling to-and-fro is so amazing. When I was selected to travel to San Antonio, Texas, to take in some of the sights there I was thrilled and I couldn't wait to jump feet first over the line of the Lone Star State. As a universal, visiting new Continue Reading

San Antonio Texas: Missions National Historical Park – San Jose Mission Spotlight #BayouTravel

One of my favorite things to do when traveling is to visit historic home, missions, battlefields and state parks and more. Not only because of the educational value in it but because we get to step back in time and learn about how others lived and interacted during a certain period. San Antonio's National Historic Park in Texas consists of 4 missions. Mission San Jose being the "Queen of the Missions is also the park's visitor center. As we pulled up we found ourselves visiting the park Continue Reading

Texas Treasures – Our Visit To The Alamo #BayouTravel Spotlight

Several of my recent posts have been leaning to this day. My family and I love educational travel so it's no surprise that we look for historic elements to include in all of our travels. We arrived in San Antonio after bring stuck under an interstate overpass in Houston for over 4 1/2 hours. We like to do the bulk of our travel overnight since the kids are asleep and roads are open and not overcrowded. Little did we know the rain would create horrible flooding for Houston and Austin. After Continue Reading

Schlitterbahn Water Park New Braunfels – San Antonio Texas Area Family Attractions #BayouTravel

Disclosure: I received complimentary admission but as usual, all opinions and thoughts are my own. After the excitement and the time I spent touring San Antonio during my stay I knew I needed some downtime to catch my breath and relax. By then end of my trip I was hot, I was tired, and I was just about all fun-ed out--that is, until I saw my where next destination was going to be. Picture if you will, putting a tall ice cold glass of water in front of a parched woman on a scorching Continue Reading
