Apple-itis Walgreens Healthcare Clinic

I have been dealing with wrist and finger pain for quite some time. Over the last 2 years my wrist pain has gotten worse. In fact, the pain which is predominately on my right hand has now spread to my left hand as well. But like most women, I don’t have time to go to the doctor. I force myself to leave work early for my routine dental appointments. But leaving my job early during the week is very hard. In fact, if I can avoid it, I will. Walgreens has revamped their Take Care Clinics to the newly expanded Healthcare Clinic. Can this help me balance my time between family, work and finding ease and convenience in healthcare?

Walgreens Healthcare Clinics are perfect for someone like myself. I work traditional hours (Mon-Fri 9-5 p.m) yet need to visit seek medical treatment. If I am late for work or leave early that means I loose wages that my family needs. Walgreens Healthcare Clinics are open in the evening hours and on weekends as well. I decided to pop into my local Walgreens to see what our local Walgreens Healthcare Clinic offers. I have actually used the Take Care Clinic in the past for vaccinations & sports physicals for my children, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that with their new expanded services Walgreens Healthcare Clinics offer more than just prevention and wellness services like treatment for strep throat, pink eye, bronchitis, UTI’s and much more.

No one wants to visit the emergency room at 5 p.m but like many mothers, I have waited countless hours in an Hospital E.R for a sprain, upper respiratory infection or even jellyfish stings. Our pediatrician has a phone cut off time so if one of my children needs to be seen by their physician, they will have to wait until the morning to see them. I’m sorry, but you can’t wait on a jellyfish sting or pink eye until the morning. Knowing this means I’ll be visiting the Walgreens Healthcare Clinic for late evening or weekend emergencies.

Our Walgreens Healthcare Clinic allows you to schedule an appointment via their website or just walk in. Available in over 370 stores, Walgreens Healthcare Clinics generally has lower wait times than an Urgent Care or E.R room. Best part about the visit, you can pick up some household goods while you wait or use the on-site pharmacy for added convenience.

I need to take care of myself a little better. Today I went to see what my local Walgreens Healthcare Clinic has to offer and spoke with the Nurse Practitioner. She recommended a wrist and hand brace for 2 weeks. If my pain doesn’t go away or start to subside, she would like to see me for an appointment. I’m so glad I can make a Saturday appointment at Walgreens. Their affordable menu price is easily located on their website and accepts insurance. Now, if f Walgreens can offer food take out, it would definitely be my favorite store! Oh wow, how convenient!! I find myself saying “I don’t have time to go to the doctor” all the time. My husband calls me the martyr. This is a great option for me!

Last summer while on vacation in Florida I had to take my son in for an ear infection and truthfully was very happy with the service!

I took my son into a Walgreens Clinic in Florida on vacation last year. It was quick, much less expensive than an ER visit and we were able to be seen right away!

Those clinics really are handy, especially if you know what your issue/need is. Plus, if there is a wait, you can pick up a snack:)

I wish we had one of these near us. I was hoping to get a low-cost diabetes test and discovered Walgreens clinics did them, but they didn’t have any remotely close to where we live. Maybe one day!

That certainly is convenient! And you could always buy a health bar if you get hungry–or maybe a box of cookies or popcorn.

Cool! I’m actually Canadian, but saw one of these at a Walgreens when we were in Florida in the spring. One stop shopping :)

This sounds like my kind of place. I dislike taking a day out to run to the Dr. I also like the fact the medication or supplies you might need are in store and you won’t need t make a second stop on the way home.

That is a great option to have. We do not have the Health Care Clinics in Walgreens around here. It would be nice. I also have the same symptoms you do. Using braces does help! I hope they help you.

I just recently started having wrist pain in my left wrist which is so funny because I’m right dominant. I really do need to go see someone but I hate going to the doctor’s office. We don’t have a Walgreens clinic, but I’m sure I could find something similar here in North Carolina. I really do have a need for it.
