Meditating in the morning is no longer a practice for those wishing to be a little more spiritual, but recommended for and practiced by those looking to improve their health. The simple act of pausing and relaxing the entire body and mind for a period of time every day can have a drastic improvement on your overall physical and mental health. Anyone that experiences high levels of stress and anxiety, or is in need of a positive mindset on a daily basis can benefit from meditating each day.

Like physical exercise, our mind and body benefit best from morning meditation, so it is important that you set your sessions for the earliest time of the day possible. Try these tips to help you begin morning meditation for stress relief and positivity.

Arrange A Meditation Space

The only way you are going to be able to meditate in peace, and achieve a state of peace, is when you have a designated space available to you. Create a quiet haven in the corner of a room and set it up with comfortable blankets, pillows and a place to set some candles.

Set a Schedule

Anything can become a routine after a few weeks of trying, so make sure that you set a schedule right from the start that you plan on sticking with. In addition to meditating in the mornings, designate a set amount of time depending on how long it takes you to settle yourself, clear your mind completely and then achieve calm.

Practice Breathing and Relaxation Techniques

No one can meditate properly when they are wound up or uncomfortable, so learn some breathing and relaxation techniques that you can put into practice. You want to be able to control your breathing so that you pull air in as slowly as possible and release it at the same pace. While breathing is something we do without having to think twice about, being able to control your breathing takes practice so when you first begin morning meditations, take time out of your day to control your breathing for prolonged periods of time.

Introduce Positive Mantras

To help you reduce daily stress and gain a positive outlook for each and every day, introduce positive mantras to your morning meditations once you have routinely achieved a quiet mind for several days. These mantras are meant to provide reinforcement for whatever goals or achievements you want to focus on and should be repeated for the last half of morning meditation sessions.

Find a way to can implement meditation. My car is my sanctuary! Driving to work each morning was the perfect place to gather my thoughts and get some clarity I needed to start my day. But driving can also be stressful, sometimes I would take a few minutes upon arriving to work (while in my parking space) to sit for a few minutes before walking through the front door. Just a few minutes can make a big impact on your day and mental attitude.
