Experts say that memories are sometimes best recognizable by smell. The holidays are the best example of this notion. From mocha hot chocolate, Christmas cookies baking in the oven, to gingerbread cooling on mom’s favorite baking rack, we can definitely agree that the smell of the holidays conjure up some of our favorite memories. As soon as Starbucks or other local coffeehouses advertises their holiday coffee, consumers are quick to react. Last year I started making my own holiday flavored drinks using Torani products.
But the fun doesn’t stop with hot or frozen coffee-based drinks. You can also incorporate Torani Flavored Syrups in your desserts as well. I needed a quick affordable dessert for a get together I was attending. I had a full oven at the time and was cooking dinner as well as precooking some of this week’s family menu (in order to save time & money). I decided I needed something that required no over space so I decided to make some pretzel rods.
Inspired by Ghriardelli’s Peppermint Bark Dark Chocolate, I decided to make a peppermint infused pretzel rod. I had some of the items I needed to make pretzel rods including the white and milk chocolate. I love peppermint bark, but the crushed peppermint candy cane often gets stuck in my little ones teeth so bad that I decided to omit the crushed peppermint and go with candy cane sprinkles I found at Target for $1.00 a container.
As with traditional chocolate pretzel rod I melted hot chocolate and dipped each rod into the chocolate. The only difference is I soaked each rod prior in Torani Peppermint Flavored Syrup to dipping them into the melted chocolate. I then shook off all excess Torani so that a light coat is infused in each syrup. I had both regular Peppermint & Torani Sugar Free Peppermint on hand as well. Once I added the melted chocolate, I then added the candy cane sprinkles over melted chocolate. Let sit for 10-15 minutes then you can wrap & bundle to pack as a gift or party dessert. Simple, decadent, and holiday inspired- a perfect combination not to mention quick & easy!
