National Geographic, Time Magazine, Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post and more are all writing about The Color Run™. If your not familiar with The Color Run™, it is the largest 5k paint event in the world. The Color Run visited over 50 cities last year with close to 600,000 participants which is unbelievable amount since their very first event was held in January of 2012. They plan to make 2013 a stellar year, launching over 100 events with an estimated one million participants. A million participants? Wait, what makes The Color Run so interesting?
“We call The Color Run™ the ‘happiest 5K on the planet’ because our events bring together friends and family in a unique, healthy, and fun environment,” said Travis Snyder, founder of The Color Run. “Our only rules are that people wear white and prepare to be covered in color at the finish!” The Color Run™ chooses an individual charity to donate to each city they visit. There are no winner or official times because The Color Run celebrates healthiness, happiness, and individuality. The Color Run™ has exploded since its debut last year with over a half-million “likes” on Facebook. It sounds to me like individuals & teams are having fun while promoting fitness and contributing to a local charity.
Recently The Color Run™ visited New Orleans and will be stopping in New Orleans again in 2013! The Arts Council of New Orleans will be teaming up with The Color Run as their local charity. The only question is “Are you ready for the craziest, colorful, 5k of your life?” You bet you are. Race it solo or form a “color team” of 4+ members. Go to http://thecolorrun.com/neworleans/ for updates on when registration will open. Also if your out of state you can visit the Color Run website for additional event locations
The Color Run™
The Color Run™ is a feel-good, happy, colorful event. “Color Runners” of all shapes and sizes happily go from wearing pristine white clothing, to being covered in prismatic color. At each kilometer mark, a different color of powder fills the air and covers the participants, creating an ever-increasing spectrum of color and beauty. At the finish line, the color festival kicks off and the air is filled with millions of vivid color combinations as participants get in on the color throwing fun as well. For more information, go to www.thecolorrun.com, follow us on Facebook, or check out this video.
As you can tell by the pictures, my friends and their family had a fantastic time. Make sure to visit the website for more information on The Color Run™ and how you can gather your own friends and family to form your own team and give back while having a blast!
Is the Color Run™ coming to your city in 2013? Check here & let me know!
Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post in any way. The Color Run™ is a sponsor of a charity I am working with. All opinions and thoughts are my own & can not be influenced in any way.

I have not yet tried paintball in any form, I can’t imagine combining a 5K with Paintball, sounds fun! (And I would have to do like you and wrap my hair! I’d probably even stuff mine under a hat too just in case!

It isn’t paintball it it colored powder. It is dry and comes out easy. We had a blast doing the race and can’t wait to do it again.

This looks really cool and it reminds me of when we celebrate Jouvet during our Carnival season in Trinidad. We Trinis dance in the street completely bathed in colors and passing the colors from one person to the next. It great when you can enjoy something that is fun and healthy at the same time.
