One of my favorite parts of summer is traveling with my family. I feel very fortunate that I live under a “perfect travel arc”. The Gulf Coast has so much to offer their travelers, that it would be a shame if locals did not take advantage of being a short drive away from a new adventure. This month my family & I went on a 3 day trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We were fortunate enough to stay at the The Cook Hotel and Conference Center at LSU. That’s right, I said LSU! The boutique hotel is ideally located on the campus of LSU & right on the bus route (for those out of towners) and was found and managed by LSU Alumni since 1994.
LSU Fans can understand how excited my family was to stay at The Cook Hotel & Conference Center. Aside from being the perfect place for an avid sports fan, it is also home to many National and Regional conference that occur in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Guest amenities like Pool, hot tub, fitness room, Sealy Posturpedic beds plus an on-site Business Center features complimentary high-speed wireless & wired internet access as well as printing and copier services. You read that right, FREE WiFi!!
One thing The Cook hotel & Conference Center prides itself is that they will not “nickle & dime” their guests. Free parking & Free Southern Breakfast (not continental breakfast) is in store for you ad no added price. We are not talking waffles, cereal, and grits/oatmeal. I’m talking biscuits, 2 different types of sausage, bacon, grits, breakfast potatoes, fresh fruit and much more is on the menu.
We stayed in a Luxury Double Guest Suite which has a large living area, full kitchen and separate bedroom with a a work area was a perfect fit for my family of four. Or you can stay in the Shaquille O’Neal Signature Suite with an 8 foot long bed! My husband, at 6′ 5″, would have loved the 8 ft bed. There are several room types available from the crown jewel signature room to a standard double or king, there is something for everyone.
My room featured above is a double suite:
Comfortable, queen sleeper sofa
Shower / bathtub combination with double granite vanity
Curved shower rods with cloth curtains
Fully equipped kitchen including cooktop stove
The amenities, friendly staff and well maintained property is a popular spot during football season. I’m not surprised, the LSU coaching staff & football players even stays there during game day. My family enjoyed our evening in the pool, taking a walk to The Jack and Priscilla Andonie Museum which features LSU Athletic History free of charge. If you are ever in the Baton Rouge area, please make sure to visit The Cook Hotel & Conference Center. Their new website is easy to navigate and can give you m ore details about the hotel and all the amenities it has to offer their guests.
