If you are like me, baking brownies is one of the first desserts you learn to make. My teen loves to bake and over the years we have used many boxed/ instant desserts brands. Now that she is familiar with the baking process, we have implemented variations to the standard boxed recipe. In order to save time when baking, I have taught my teen that she can take her boxed desserts to the next levels by adding garnishes and flavor to standard boxed dessert recipes. Today we are giving you a sneak peek on how you can up your boxed recipes with Sea Salt Caramel Brownie Bites.
Your favorite boxed brownie mix, fudge brownies work best
(Standard boxed mix ingredients)
1 teaspoon sea salt, divided in half
1 cup caramel baking bits or caramel squares for melting
Prepare your boxed brownies according to the instructions on the package. I prefer the way fudge brownies pair with caramel and sea salt. Set aside the brownie mix to melt a half cup of the caramel. Mix the melted caramel into your boxed brownie mixture. Add one half teaspoon of sea salt to the brownie mix and stir well.
Preheat oven according to package instructions. Spray mini muffin tin for making bites with non-stick cooking spray. Add brownie mix to mini muffin tin, stirring occasionally to make sure that the caramel does not settle to the bottom of the bowl. Only fill each small bite slot ⅔ of the way because most brownie mixes will rise.
Removes brownie bites from the oven to cool. Melt the remaining caramel bites or squares and spoon over the tops of your brownie bites, creating long strands of caramel. Before the caramel stiffens sprinkle the sea salt over caramel so that it sticks to each bite.
