Ober Gatlinburg #BayouTravel

Disclosure: We received complimentary Outdoor Activity Wristbands to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own and can not be influenced in any way.

Traveling to the Smoky Mountain Area is always an exciting family journey. My children are older so we are always up for an adventure. Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park is one of Gatlinburg’s most exciting attractions. Nestled high in the above Gatlinburg, your family can enjoy an array of activities at any age range. Like I previously mentioned in the past, my family and I are regulars to the area and were thrilled to experience a full day at Ober Gatlinburg

Ski & Snowboard at the Ober Gatlinburg #BayouTravel

While many attractions can nickle and dime tourist, Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park has the option to purchase an “Outdoor Activity Wristband” ($20 for adults ~ $17 for ages 5 – 11) which includes unlimited use of the Alpine Slide, Scenic Chairlift, Chair Swing, Carousel, Kiddie Land & Kiddie Rides. The “All Activity Wristband” ($30 for adults ~ $25.50 for ages 5 – 11 ) includes same as Outdoor Activity Wristband plus Wildlife Encounter and one session of ice skating. Activities can be purchased al la carte but I find that purchasing a wristband is a huge money saver and allows your family to stay at an attraction for an ENTIRE day which allows travels to plan out in advance and helps budget time and money.

Ober Gatlinburg - Blue Ridge Mountains #BayouTravel

Tee very first thing my family and I did when arriving to Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park is experience the Scenic Chairlifts which is also South’s longest chairlift allows families to experience a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains & The Great Smoky Mountains and offers plenty of photo opportunities as well. A live Bluegrass Band is there to greet your family and offers additional ski lift pictures available for purchase. The view is breathtaking!

Gatlinburg Attractions - Ober Gatlinburg #BayouTravel

One of the great things about experiencing the ski lifts first is you get an aerial view of Ober Gatlinburg. While experiencing the scenic ski lifts, we got a first hand glance at the Alpine Slide. The Alpine Slide (as pictured above) is one of two 1800′ tracks that takes riders through woods and ski trails on a small bob sled. The Alpine Slide allows you can control your own speed with a braking device on each sled. Accelerate or slow down as you ride down the mountain through curves, straight, and on hairpin turns into the valley. The ride seems daunting but since riders are allowed to control their own speed, you would be surprised how fun the weaving through the mountains is. My husband and children did this several times and loved every minute of it.

Ice Skating & more at Ober Gatlinburg #BayouTravel

Whether your family enjoys creating timeless memories like ice skating, outdoor playtime or are a bit adventurous, Ober Gatlinburg can provide endless hours of mountaintop fun. Our family had an memorable time. We can’t wait to return to another adventure soon!

Not sure I would want to go there while there is snow on the ground–we get enough around here!! But I would certainly like to be in that sky lift during the autumn months-wonder if they operate then as well.

That looks like an awesome place to spend some quality family time! We have many places like that here in New England, but we don’t ski much – we love snow tubing, though.

You’re making me want to go badly! I did an alpine slide in Utah and it was one of the most fun things I’ve done in years!

This looks like a lot of fun. We went on vacation but it’s been so bitterly cold that there was really nothing much to do. Happy New Year.

This looks like a ton of fun. I love that they have the indoor ice skating rink also. I grew up in a cold weather state and winter activities were a part of our daily life. Great memories and a few good photos remain.
