How To Prepare For Cold & Flu Season #SimplyHealthy #Cbias #Shop

Every weekend my family & I head over to Sam’s club to do our weekly household shopping. I know that as a Sam’s Club member I can purchase quality fruits, veggies and lean cuts of meat to keep my family healthy. But today I’m home from work taking care of my little guy who has the sickies. Missing work is not fun, especially since I work in healthcare full-time. Irony, yes!

Today at work I received a phone call from my son’s school letting me know that she is showing signs of a cold. Since cold and flu season is among us, I had a feeling that I would not be able to make it to work tomorrow.

Once my son arrived home from school, I left work and went straight to Sam’s Club. While I could have visited a drug store instead, most Sam’s Club locations have a pharmacy, offer flu vaccinations and have a large variety of cold and flu products.

I buy everything in bulk which means less after-work grocery stops and saves my family money. I picked up some cold medication, a large bottle of hand sanitizer and other goodies to recharge my little guy.

Although I hate to miss work (my family depends on two incomes) I know making sure my little guy is 100% before he returns home is a must! Avoiding cold and flu season is hard to do but we can take precaution by vaccinating this season. National Influenza Vaccination Week takes place December 7 – 13 and since a flu vaccination is good for the entire flu season, it’s best to receive your flu shot in the fall before peak season in January or February.

I know some people do not believe the flu shot is effective or can “make you sick” but working in healthcare I know how vital the flu shot is for me and my family. It takes about two weeks for antibodies to develop in the body and begin to protect you against influenza virus infection. My coworkers and I need to protect our patients, family members and each other this winter.

Another way you can keep your family healthy this cold and flu season is by downloading the Healthy Living Made Simple App available on your Iphone or Ipad. The Sam’s Club Healthy Living Made Simple Magazine and App offers users informational health and wellness articles, tips on flu Season Preparation and much more.

The Healthy Living Made Simple App is free of charge as is the online Healthy Living Made Simple Magazine. Plus you can learn more about health screenings at your local Sam’s Club Pharmacy.

Next time you are at Sam’s Club don’t forget to visit the Sam’s Club Pharmacy aisle where you can find the products you need to keep you healthy this cold and flu season. If you’re like me, add some fruits and veggies to your cart and say “bye bye” to the sickies and hello to healthy living.

Too late. I had a miserable cold about 2 weeks ago. I will stock up before the next one hits.

I keep healthy by making sure to eat healthy, drink tea, soup, OJ, water and other fluids as much as I can, dressing warmly, and staying away from crowded, closed places as much as possible. Taking vitamins and supplements also helps!

I am so blessed, I never get sick. I drink raw vegetable juice every single day and I know that has a lot to do with it. The only time I ever got the flu was when I got a flu shot – won’t be doing that again. Looks like you got all the right stuff in your cart to keep the germs away! Have a healthy and happy Thanksgiving!!

I have never gotten a flu shot, but I always used to take my daughter when she was younger. Good reminders.

I wash hands all the time and I’m a big sanitizer too. I definitely need to get my flu shot as well though. I didn’t realize Sam’s did them!

You had me at pomegranate – those are my favorite fruit. We are stocked up just in case we get the flu, but not to prevent it – oops.

We love being able to shop in bulk esp during this season. Less trip to the store means less exposure to germs and cold temps.

We get reduced price flu shots through where my hubby works, but I haven’t gotten mine yet. I need to get on that. I love Sam’s Club because I can stock up on vitamins and ibuprofen!

I actually just gave up my Sams Club membership this summer because we didn’t shop as much as I would have liked so it wasn’t worth the membership. Maybe I need to renew.

I did get my flu shot already this fall. I try to wash my hand all the time and especially before I eat or touch my face. I make sure I don’t sneeze into the open air around my family to keep them healthy.

Exercise and eating a healthy diet is something I do also.

We’ve already had the flu in my house. My son got it first, then my husband and then me. Luckily my daughter (only child in school) didn’t show any signs of it. I’m pretty sure I picked up the germs at the gym. Yuck!

We try to up our Vitamin C when cold and flu season hits and so far it seems to be working. I haven’t checked out our Sam’s Club yet, but it sounds like they have everything needed to battle the winter bugs that will soon be hitting us!
