Some of my readers have asked about having a Girl’s (Mom & Daughter) Weekend in Chicago. I have many friends who have flown out with their tween or teen and set out for the Windy City. Spending a day out with your daughter in the city of Chicago makes for a day filled with fun and adventure, pampering and fun shopping.
From American Girl Place to the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel to checking out her favorite animals at the zoo, there are tons of great activities to fill an entire girl’s day out in Chicago. Whether you are looking to just spend the day with one young girl, or take out a bunch of her friends too, there is so much to do in the city. My recommendation to search for discounted Chicago attraction passes. Since I’m a big fan, CityPASS Chicago would be ideal for my needs.
Learn more about some of the best girl’s day out activities that are definitely worth seeing in Chicago. You might just end up starting a new tradition.
American Girl Place Chicago
American Girl Place is fun for girls of a wide range of ages, stop in any day and you will see girls as young as two and groups of teenagers enjoying the same things. American Girl Place is more than just a store, but an entire experience based around a growing book series and celebrating girlhood. Catch a musical, do a little shopping and enjoy lunch in the cafe.
Lincoln Park Zoo
Lincoln Park Zoo is located right in the city, able to be included in your plans for a girl’s day out and open every day of the year. Take your daughter to see her favorite animal, the zoo has animals representing every region of the world. If you’re lucky, there are baby animals at the zoo for guests to see and learn about.
Ferris Wheel Ride at Navy Pier
Chicago has a famous Ferris Wheel, and it sits on the iconic Chicago’s Navy Pier, where you can give your daughter a magnificent view of the city and the Lake. There is a lot to see and do on the Pier, but in order to pack in as much fun as possible, a thrilling ride in one of the Ferris Wheel’s buckets is the one thing you should make sure to do.
Dinner at the Walnut Room
The Walnut Room, in Macy’s is one of those must do activities for a girl’s day in the city of Chicago. The restaurant is a Chicago icon, located in what was once Marshall Field’s department store. The room is a reminder of what luxury in Chicago once was, and girls of any age will enjoy this Chicago tradition.
Take a Boat Ride
The city of Chicago has so many dedicated boat ride tours, taking families up and down the Chicago River or out onto the Lake. For a unique experience try the Tall Ship Windy located at Navy Pier, or for a view of the city take a slow paced boat ride down one or more of the branches of the Chicago River with Wendella. If you’re looking to end the day with a boat ride, opt for an evening trip, or a firework tour.
