Sometimes, it’s okay to cheat a little during the holidays! As much as I love to cook for my family, bringing the perfect dish to a holiday party can be more work (and costly) than going out to eat. That’s why I look for ways to cut corners and be mindful of my budget when I offer to bring a specific holiday party dish. Pasta and a bottle of wine is the perfect combo to stretch my holiday dollar.
One of my favorite pasta and easy to make pasta dishes is Crawfish Pasta. I pair it with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon Estancia Wine which can be found at Walmart. I’m a huge fan of the “one pot” dish which saves me time in the kitchen so I purchased a box of Barilla Pronto Penne pasta. Barilla Pronto comes in several varieties like spaghetti, linguine, rotini, elbow and allows me to use one pot for our entire Crawfish Pasta dish.
I add diced yellow onions, green onions, mushrooms, a 1lb of crawfish tails and 1 cup of shredded parmigiano reggiano cheese to my pot of cooked pasta. One box of Barilla Pronto Pasta is cooked in either 3 cups water or broth. I use cold water for 10 minutes. In the last 1-2 minutes of cooking time, add 1 cup of jarred alfredo sauce (or homemade) and stir your fresh ingredients and pasta.
Barilla Pronto Pasta eliminates the need to pre-boil or drain. The recipes literally takes minutes! You can whip this up after work and either serve for your family or bring to your next holiday party.
Walmart has a great selection of super premium wine at a great price which includes the Cabernet Sauvignon Estancia Wine shown here. The Cabernet Sauvignon has green bell pepper notes which compliment the crawfish pasta Alfredo sauce. Since I added parmigiano reggiano cheese to the crawfish pasta, the Cabernet Sauvignon Estancia wine paring brings out the wine’s bold, dark fruit flavors.
Walmart will be hosting several wine tastings, Barilla & Pepperidge Farm demos at select Walmart Stores in November and December. Be sure to visit the Simple Entertaining Hub to find out about a tasting or pairing event at a Walmart near you!
If you want to include a sweet treat for your guests or hostess, include a box of Pepperidge Farm Cookie Collection, Chocolate Cookie Collection or Pepperidge Farm Cracker Trio. Your hostess or guest will LOVE you! The cookie collection is so versatile and offers a variety of elegant shaped favorites that guests can enjoy. I like to keep a few boxes on hand in case I have a few unexpected quests this holiday season.
