In 2003 my family made our first trip to Pigeon forge, Tennessee. We had one child back then and traveling prices were very affordable. Since then, we have made our way back to Pigeon Forge almost every Thanksgiving Since 2003. As many of you know, I recently returned to Pigeon Forge without my family for Brandcation: Blog Cabin and one of our first stops while in Pigeon Forge was visiting Dollywood. I have always had kids while visiting Dollywood so you can imagine my excitement to browse throughout the large park sans children! But my luck got even better when I found out that Dollywood had a new roller-coaster- The Wild Eagle!
I’m deathly afraid of heights, but as strange as this sounds roller-coasters do not bother me. That day, as I walked up to the park, I realized The Wild Eagle was a mega ride! The mother of all rollercoasters. The Wild Eagle is America’s 1st Winged Roller-coaster. Not only are you soaring in the sky but your also going well over 60 miles an hour while suspended in the air. Get ready for nothing above or below you to slow you down! The Wild Eagle will be the longest 2 minutes and 22 seconds of your life, but it will make you want to ride it again, and again!
Wanna know a secret? The Discovery Channel was filming the pilot of a new series (they didn’t tell us the name) and our group was selected to be filmed before and during our roller-coaster experience. We signed a liability release through the Discovery Channel!! How exciting is that? So if you see me on television, you’ll know I just had my 15 minutes of fame. Or in my case, probably about 2 minutess and 22 seconds of fame!!
I told my daughter about the Wild Eagle and she was so jealous of me. Since we are returning in November Dollywood is our first stop while in Pigeon Forge. Aside from the Wild Eagle Dollywood has so much to offer their guests. The minute you walk through you are greeted by many employees who have a smile on their face and a genuine love for their job. Not only can you sense that feeling, but the employees will be their first ones to give you the in’s and outs of the large amusement park. Whether you enjoy musical shows, fast roller-coasters, or shopping, Dollywood has something for the whole family. And if you enjoy a great meal, Dollywood is your stop for great tasting food.
I missed my family, but I love knowing what is in store from them when we return next month. If your interested in more information about Dollywood, you can find more on their
Website, Facebook, or on Twitter

As many times as my family & I have been to Dollywood, we go back every year for a reason! The park is fantastic!! Easy Access from Pigeon Forge w/ plenty of parking space including a entire lot for handicap. Large Food Selection which includes those with dietary restrictions. Park is always in beautiful conditions!! I rarely see trash on the ground more less a dirty bathroom. Every aspect of Dollywood is top notch. Ride Lines are kept to a minimal even for a a large amusement park. Whether your looking for Roller-coasters for school aged children or rides for toddlers, there are so many choices to make without getting overwhelmed. Plenty of Musical shows to entertain those not interested in roller-coasters and tons of shops and boutiques. The map given to guests during entrance can help you locate vital landmarks like First Aid, Lost & Found or even food/gift locations. I find that there is an affordability level that makes Dollywod ideal for large families to visit every year. Unlike other large destinations, Dollywood aims to keep their prices within reason to ensure guest return not just every year but more than once a season. If you go to their website you can get great deals on tickets especially if you are being a hotel or cabin in the area. This helps to keep the overall experience to a minimum.
Prices are listed below:
Valid any operating day
Adult Ages 12-59= $56.00 per ticket
Child Ages 4-11 = $44.00 per ticket
Senior Ages 60+ = $51.00 per ticket
Disclosure: I received a comp ticket to Dollywood as well as comp food while in the park. My opinions are my own and can not be influenced in any way. I have been to Dollywood with my family many times, it is always an amazing experience!!
how awesome!! i will have to look for you on the screen soon!
Sounds like a great time! I am afraid of heights too:)
I was born and raised in that area, but I haven’t been to Dollywood in years. I might go back to test out that coaster next time I visit my folks!
Cool! I want to go….but no roller coasters for me.
I love Dollywood and Splash Country, too!

We love to visit the Smokies and have done so several times. We’re actually planning another trip in March. Unfortunately, Dollywood won’t be open at that time. I’d love to visit! My kids love roller coasters so I’m sure they’d be game.
Thanks for linking up to the Best of the USA Blog Hop!
I’ve heard about Dollywood for years and never visited.

This looks like so much fun. I did not realize Dollywood had rides
I’m deathly afraid of rollercoasters so I wouldn’t be going anywhere near the Wild Eagle but I’ve always thought that Dollywood would be a fun place to visit!
