Stadium Satchel-Don’t leave your purse at home

October 2, 2013 by Maria

Disclosure: Item was sent in order to facilitate this post. If there is one thing I love, it's FOOTBALL! Like many football fans we were so disappointed to hear of the recent NFL's New Stadium Entry Rule. The new rule limits the size and type of bags that are allowed into stadiums starting in the 2013 preseason. Naturally you can use an NFL approved clear bag available for purchase on their website or you can put a fun & stylish twist with the “Stadium Satchel”. The Stadium Satchel was Continue Reading

A Place at the Table Screening- Prytania Theatre

September 18, 2013 by Maria

As a child, my single mother struggled to provide for my older brother & I. At the time my mother worked cleaning houses during the week and babysat at our local church on Sundays. On Saturday she also worked at the local Children's Hospital providing childcare for special-needs children who had parents that worked at the hospital. We struggled to pay bills and to provide food on our table. For a few years during my childhood my family depended on food stamps, received food from local Continue Reading

DRY BAR BLEU Get Blown Away #dBb

I hate to admit it but my hair is a HOT MESS this time of year! Wavy + Thick + Long hair is challenging so I'm always looking for new ideas when it comes to fighting my frumpy, frizzy look. I recently went to a Sip + See Pre-Grand Opening Event at DRY BAR BLEU in Metairie, Louisiana. Dry Bar Bleu is Metairie's newest hair salon that focuses on JUST blowouts! That's right, no hair cuts or colors. You can be in & out in 30-45 minutes depending on your hair and style preference. Located in Old Continue Reading

Educational Travel: New Orleans Edition #NOLA

Because my readers know that I am in the New Orleans area, I am constantly being asked questions like: What can we do in New Orleans with our family? Is it safe for the kids? I can't bring my kids to the French Quarter can I? The misconception that New Orleans is 365 days of Mardi Gras is untrue. Traveling with your family to New Orleans is not only doable but it is a must! You know me & you have seen my family. We are like friends! Not only have I walked the French Quarter with my family Continue Reading

One Direction: This Is Us 3D Movie Review #1DMoviePremiere

August 27, 2013 by Maria

My daughter's life is semi complete! Not exactly, but the euphoric feeling has not gone away since last week's advance screening of One Direction: This Is Us 3D movie. My daughter is a 13 & a huge Directioner. She, along with a group of friends adore the band One Direction. As a mother, I sometimes worry about any strong adoration with someone in the entertainment industry. Honestly, you never know what direction a teen/young adult may head towards. I'm not even going to mention previous Continue Reading

Living outside the New Orleans area culture is readily available. But our diversity is in the soil of Louisiana and why I Continue Reading

A Mound in La. History – Magnolia Mound Plantation #BayouTravel

My family & I recently visited BREC Magnolia Mound Plantation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Magnolia Mound was a short 10 minute drive from The Cook Hotel at LSU which we recently stayed at. BREC Magnolia Mound is a smaller plantation than Nottoway Plantation but is rich in Louisiana History. In 1786 (a small cottage at the time) James Hillin & hos wife Jane arrived to Baton Rouge. In 1791 they sold the 950 acre plantation to John Joyce & his family. Although the plantation was located Continue Reading
