Ring in the New Year with a Bang - Styling Tips for New Years Eve

During the work week I am rocking the same look every day – healthcare scrubs! Friends, it’s not a cute look so I look forward to evenings that I can pull out my jewelry, dress and heels for am upcoming party. I have fairly long hair so I try to get creative for special occasions. My top special occasion hair styles are very easy to create and stakes little time.

Side Knot: The long side knot is the perfect look for New Year’s Eve. Simply sweep your hair to one side. With your fingertips you can separate into thirds and create a loose braid. My teen (she also has long hair) showed me how to rock this look by leaving a few pieces out to frame my face. Hairspray is your friend! Make sure to add a small amount to hold the look into the New Year.

Updo: We all have our favorite updo. Whether you are rocking a classic up-do, braided bun, messy rocker updo, or a half bun hair pins are a necessity. Put your bobby pins away and always keep sturdy hair pins on hand. If you have long hair your sleek chignon or bun will not last to the wee hours of the night with a flimsy bobby pin.

Dramatic Side Waves: Weather you are going for the romantic look or the vamp (oh la la) look, you can turn a classic party dress and add drama with wavy locks. Add a small amount of styling mousse to your hair and blow dry into a side part or use a curling wand and wrap each section of your hair with the wand and hold in place for a few short minutes. Brush out the curls and add hair spray for long lasting dramatic waves. Try using Dove® Oxygen Moisture Root Lift (focusing on the roots) to blow dry and curl your locks. Your romantic do will have your loved one breathless.

Popular New Year's Eve Hair Styles - How to achieve healthy hair in the winter

Putting effort into your hair is not just for special occasions. Keeping our locks healthy during the winter months is crucial to maintain an overall healthy look. Your hair needs to stay hydrated and full of moisture to avoid dry, brittle hair during the winter months.

Using products like TRESemmé® 7 Day Keratin Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner can help keep your everyday beauty routine simple and effective. If you are fighting frizz like me, try adding TRESemmé 7 Day Keratin Smooth Heat Activated throughout your strands. Blow dry and then run your flat iron from root to tip. It can help give you the silky, shiny hair you desire year around.

Popular New Year's Eve Hair Styles - How to achieve healthy hair in the winter

This New Year’s Eve I am slipping out of my work scrubs and ringing in the New Year with a bang. But more importantly I’m going to focus on myself this year, or at least try to take a bath without one of my children asking “Whatcha doing?”!

What are some of your favorite hair styling tips you have learned over the years?

Very lovely hair styles. I pay a small fortune to straighten my natural curls, so my hair is usually down.

I could definitely use some style this year. LOL I am a ponytail and sweats addict.

My hair does not like being styled at all – I wish I could do some wonderful things with it – perhaps I should give it a whirl again for 2015.

What pretty styles but we stay in for family night so most likely mine will not be fancy, just up in a ponytail!

Updos are my go-to for special occasions like NYE. They’re so classic!

I wish I could do any of these with my hair. Especially the first one, that is stunning! Sadly, I won’t be doing much for NYE anyways so my hair isn’t a worry. However, I’m going to try some of these styles in 2015!

I’m going for a cut and color tomorrow, so who knows! Unfortunately my cowlick prevents me from having bangs :(

I have naturally wavy thick hair. It’s a mess. Since I work from home I just wash and go. When I go out I do like to blow it out and make it look a little nicer. Most days I just let the natural curl hang out. I’m known for buns in the summer.

I’m not sure if we are going out tonight, but those are beautiful! I am lucky if my toddler lets me shower once a day. LOL

I’ll be staying in this year, so mine is just getting thrown up into a pony tail and I’ll be calling it done, lol. I do love the second look for an evening out with my friends though!

One of my favorite go-to styles is a fun and messy bun. Of course, it isn’t as easy to pull off as it looks like it should lol!

I used to work in a celebrity hair salon meaning is the hair dresser I used to work for was Jie Matar. If you know hair you know how big of a name he made for himself. I learned that natural is best when it comes to hair products I also learned so many tricks like going from blod to red and back again when it comes to hair color. cut is also a important part when it coems to updo. It is always a good idea before you do a updo to wash and blow dry your hair so it’s a smoother shiny updo.
