Does you enjoy a good ghost story? Hearing a ghost story is very different than staying in a haunted hotel! Most Haunted Hotels can be found from the East to West coast and every state in between. It seems as if there are no shortage of ghosts in our country and they love to haunt old hotels.
The three most haunted hotels are the Crescent Hotel, the Stanley Hotel, and Hotel Del Coronado. It doesn’t appear that any of these ghosts mean any harm; they just like to let you know that they are there from time to time. I think it is time to go ghost hunting at some historic hotels, don’t you?
Hotel Del Coronado, California
Hotel Del Coronado is located just outside of San Diego and was built in 1888. It is one of the most beautiful historic hotels in California, and one of the most haunted. Kate Morgan checked into the Del into Room 3502 in 1892. Her death is still a mystery as she was found shot as she was waiting for her estranged husband to show up at the hotel. He never showed up and she showed up dead on the beach with a gunshot a few days later.
People have experienced cold spots, unexplained noises and breezes in the hallways and closed rooms – especially hers – when staying at the hotel. Kate’s lonely spirit still roams the grounds of Hotel Del Coronado searching for her lost love.
Stanley Hotel, Colorado
Stephen King wrote The Shining at the Stanley Hotel in Room 217 and was inspired by the many ghostly occurrences at this hotel. F.O and Fiona Stanley are the originals owners are reported to haunt the grounds and love to play the piano late at night and F.O. can be seen playing a game of billiards too.
The most ghostly activities have been evidenced on the fourth floor, which used to be the servant’s quarters. Little kids like to play pranks and mess up your room if you step out and can be heard laughing in the hallways – at least their ghosts are having fun! Room 418 has the most ghost occurrences reported, so if you want to be spooked, this is the room for you.
Crescent Hotel, Arkansas
The Crescent Hotel is said to be the Most Haunted Hotel in America with eight spirits taking up residence. It was built in 1886 as a hotel for the rich and famous, but it couldn’t keep up and fell into disarray. It then changed hands and opened up as a college then a sort-of health hospital then again as a hotel.
In 1865 while building the hotel, an Irish stonemason, Michael, fell to his death and haunts the current hotel. Theordora can be seen trying to find the right key to get into her room was from the hospital days. Morris the Cat also can be heard throughout the hotel at all hours of the night. Guests of the hotel can tour the underground tunnels and even the morgue, which is still underneath the hotel with an autopsy table still there!
